Would Not RecommendBoxes to shallow doesn’t come flush with the ceiling yeah, have to buy an extension box to use it
The box depth of the 936 fan brace, is intended for use with half-inch drywall. Extension rings are not rated for fan support.

Would Not RecommendA real pain to install. I had to climb into the attic to get it to sit right. Might as well saved money and bought the simple round box that nails to the truss.

Would RecommendThis is a fabulous product that was recommended by an electrician friend of mine after I told him about one of my ceiling fans falling. He said improperly installed fans with junction boxes not rated for the weight are far more common than people realize. So I used this box in that one bedroom on the 2nd floor of my home and checked my 3 other bedroom’s fans. Great for older homes.
Would Recommend1980 house, thought screws were lose on the ceiling fan, took it apart and realized the outlet above was wiggling. It came loose from wherever it was attached when the house was built. This was perfect for this situation. The outlet does not wiggle anymore and my ceiling fan stays nicely and wobble to it.
