Pretty, but predrill and prethread
Brass screws are a nice touch for small projects with brass hardware. They are much more likely to break than regular steel screws though, so to help prevent breaking the head off a screw, drill the appropriate pilot hole first, then use a steel screw of the same size as the brass screw you intend to use to "prethread" the screw holes

Thanks for ruining my project
Would Not RecommendProject I’ve been meaning to get to for years ruined in 20 minutes by this garbage product. Screw after screw broke apart in my window frame, even with pilot holes drilled. Whatever happened to quality? These screws snapped like toothpicks, even being screwed slowly and gently into pilot holes. Can’t tell you how beyonduu upset I am at the Hillman brand. They sell a subpar product, but I guess it doesn’t affect them - they’ve got my money. They’re not there to fix my beautiful solid wood window ...
