I tested these GRK #9 x 2" multi-purpose screws on a block of pine and a block of maple. The Fast Bite Zip Tip (TM) started the screws in both blocks without a pilot hole or center-punch mark. The screw went in quickly and smoothly. The T-25 star bit (included in the package) held the screw securely. The CEE Thread (TM) is advertised to reduce splitting.
