I just installed the product. It was easy to install with great directions. Still waiting for the snow to see how well it works.

Good for what I used it for

I didn't use it in the way it was truly meant to be. The drain pipe was frozen below ground level. I drilled a hole in the downspout, fed the cable through the hole so that it was down as far as possible below the water level. Plugged it in, and within several hours the ice had melted. The cable doesn't get hot to the touch, but hot enough to melt ice.

Help for Ice dams

We purchased this because we damaged the one we had that followed the valleys in our roof. They are a lot easier to install in warm weather than they are during a blizzard. Once the temperature drops and the cable gets cold, it's a bit difficult to maneuver, but we managed. These do a good job, but they don't make anything specific for a metal roof so it's a bit more challenging.

Great idea, causes brown outs

Had handyman install it on single story home. Took him way longer than expected, and I checked that he was working consistently. We thought we were good, but then winter hit and we kept tripping the circuit breakers of the house. We shutter to think of how high our electric bill will be and we can't roof rake because we would mess up the cables. We are stuck in a frustrating situation.

Not an easy install...but great product

First off...you can't just slap this product up and expect to get it right. You are going to have to use a fair amount of math to calculate the height of each triangle and the number of triangles. I don't consider myself bad at math and it took me 45 minutes to calculate the layout. The installation turned out to be rather simple. Once you get started to is all rather boring. Best Deicing Kit I've Found

These EasyHeat cables are available in 60 to 120 foot lengths. You need to plan out your installation and pick cables to suit. The better the plan, the easier the installation and performance. There is an excellent design guide in the box, but I don't think this guide is online. If you're installing these cables for the first time, I suggest you buy the 60 foot kit, be careful with the box and just remove the guide, study it in detail and if the 60 foot kit is too short, repack it carefully and ...

Easy and practical

I was worried about ice jams forming. I know these are excellent preventive tools when used before, but I purchased two for areas that I was concerned about, and laid out on top of snow and ice, and turned on. In the morning, there were several clear wide paths right to the edge of the roof. No salt or chemicals to corrode roof, and no pounding with a hammer / shovel to remove built up ice.

Shorter life than expected

Product: EasyHeat 30 foot, 150 watt Gutter Deicing Kit Well constructed, easy to use and install. Downside: Unit failed to operate after the second season of use. (I wonder if it would have lasted longer had I removed it from the gutter during the summer season?)

I purchased this item to heat a drain line that runs from a hole in my porch (which is a concrete pad and the roof of my garage) to the downspout outside the garage. Took right out of the box , uncurl it , let it sit in sun while getting ladder set up , had it install with in a hour on each side of roof .

This Solved My Ice Damming Problem

Our two car garage projects out about ten feet from the front of our house. There's a shed style roof above this projection. The heat from our cars and radiated heat from the second floor of our house warms the underside of the shed roof. The snow melts, runs down the roof and then freezes when it hits the eave overhang. The cure for ice dams

My roof has large overhangs, about 3 ft. This wire was invaluable in curing an ice dam problem. I have about 400 feet of wire turned on whenever the temperature is below 35 degrees. Huge electrict bill, but worth it.

Works Great!

This was easy to install and works great. The last snow storm did not have a chance to build up on the roof or in the gutters. The only thing I wish I did was buy the next size up so more of the cable is in the down spout. I ended up with about 3 feet into the downspout after installation.

My house does not have its soffits vented and after 5 yrs here and icicles over my front door and roof i tried this heat tyape out last year....it worked like a charm. This fall I am going to do another corner of the house with the product. This fixed my problem but its really only a band aid for improper ventilation in my attic space/soffits, but its easier than fixing the real problem.
