This has been a very good purchase. Great results. Time will tell how it holds up. I’m pleased with the other Dewalt tools I’ve purchased.

Was legendary, new one is questionable

My first one of these lasted 15 years, used weekly. No question I was getting the latest version (very little has changed) for a replacement. Adjusted the headstock right away to get better results (initially off about .015 from side to side). Fine. Then today the chain that drives the rollers fell off—the two allen head bolts holding the sprockets had backed completely out. Reinstalled with loctite, no lasting damage except plastic cover cracked. But if this one lasts even half as long I’...

For the price paid is not OK

The planer works ok. The dust collection is garbage. The results are ok as well. All that said is an overpriced item, and I would not recommend it at all. Save your money and buy something else, either cheaper or better.

THE BOX WAS WELL PACKED AND THE UNIT WAS UNDAMAGED WHEN I RECEIVED IT AT MY HOUSE. FROM THE TIME I REMOVED IT OUT OF THE BOX AND SET IT UP I WAS LITERALLY PLANING 2 X 4' S IN LESS THAN (15) MINUTES. FINISH QUALITY OF THE WOOD I PLANED WAS OUTSTANDING WITH NO VISIBLE SNIPE, AND THESE BOARDS WERE 8' LONG PINE 2 X 4'S. I'VE ALWAYS HAD GOOD LUCK WITH DEWALT TOOLS AND THEY DID NOT LET ME DOWN WITH THIS ONE EITHER. WELL BUILT AND ROCK SOLID PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.

Best small shop planner on the planet!! Ben using for almost a year and love it. It is a work horse!

Great planer!

So far, this planer is far better than my old Delta 12 inch planer. I am experiencing a little bit of snipe but it sands out easily. I am currently planing cutting boards made from maple, cherry and walnut strips that are glued together. The overall finish on the boards looks great.

Pays for itself

Typical Dewalt built product. Reliable,heavy duty. Pays for itself fast when buying rough lumber

Great planer

Have had this planer for 3 yrs. And still going strong. Only negative comment I have is the blades tend to dull quickly vs mu old Delta 2 blade planer I sometimes still use. Thought about the helical head but at 1/2 the price of the planer it is a hard choice.

Have only had this a couple of weeks and it works as good as expected. The chip ejection is fantastic and the finish quality is amazing.

It does everything that I wanted and more. It's easy to use. I never used a planer before, so it's easy for a novice woodworker.

Great, until i needed service

Bought heavy unit (92 lbs) not quite 3 years ago. Used it carefully to clean up wood. Generally it worked well. Replaced blades after 1 year. Used for light, occasional home use on weekends. Then a horrible shaking, clanking began when power was on. Carefully took it apart and the 2 screws holding the cutter roller left end support were loose.
