What Customers Are Saying
The heat gun has mixed reviews. Many users found it convenient and portable for small projects, appreciating its compact design, quick heating, and locking trigger. However, some were disappointed with its limited power and short battery life, noting it struggled for larger tasks. Some also reported quality issues, with the gun failing after few uses. Overall, the consensus is that this heat gun is best suited for light, quick jobs where the convenience of cordless outweighs the need for high heat output and runtime.

Would RecommendI am a chainsaw sculptor and I finish my carvings with paint and stain. When painting eagle heads and concentrating on the eyes, I used to have to wait to be able to paint a different color. I figured I would try the heat gun. A Flexvolt on there and I cut the finish time down by hours. I have it as my 'go to' for finishing now. You can literally watch paint dry.

Great to have a Dewalt heat gun
Would RecommendWe use it to test fire alarm heat detectors at work. Quick heat and the locking trigger really help! Our one criticism is that the com could be a little high like up to 12 vs the current 6.7.

Not dewalts finest
Would Not RecommendI bought this as I have a ton of dewalt tools, I am a professional contractor with a crew of men working with me daily. My first choice is always dewalt tools. This heat gun does have its uses, but it definitely is not comparable to an electric unit. It uses a ton of battery for it to only get minimally hot.
Can’t beat that heat
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very impressed with this heat gun, used it to take decals off a vehicle, shrink water proof tubing, and dry paint on a project for a quicker turn over! I like the size of the tool and the heat it can produce! Very happy with this purchase! Great tool guys!

Small form factor and almost instant heat
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a little skeptical as I could not believe you can pull so much energy from the battery and have a good runtime (the laws of physics). I feel like this small tool is defying the laws of physics! I'm using for all projects that need heat - electrical jobs (shrink insulation), bending plastics, pre-heating for painting and drying paint jobs, pre-heating surfaces to promote flashing tape adhesion and much more! I really like that it heats up ...

Dies incredibly fast
Would Not RecommendWe needed a heat gun to remove vinyl tile from our subfloor. Reviews were good so we decided to give it a try. It was not good, I returned it the next day. It doesn’t say anywhere on it what voltage battery to use so we thought our 20v Dewalt batteries that we already had would work. They did but for literally 3 minutes and then the gun died. Not a good product. Highly recommend one with a cord if you need to use it for more than 3 mins at a time.

Convenient
Would RecommendIt has the heat of my corded heat gun and no cord means it is much handier.

Good heat, lacks on the blower side.
Would Not RecommendEven a cheap plug-in heat gun can match this gun. While its portability is nice, you will spend way longer than going to find an extension cord. The heat is great, but lacks a decent blower to give heat penetration.

Great for electrical
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quality feel and build, small, compatible with my existing 20V Dewalt batteries. Works well for heat shrink tubing, low-temp solder connectors, softening wire insulation and irrigation tubing. I use this mostly for exterior lighting and audio wiring. Buried cables are using hard when dug up, this works well for softening the insulation, applying heat shrink tubing, and the low-temp solder connectors. If you are wanting to strip paint or s...

Excellent for electrical work
Would RecommendSmall, uses DEWALT 20/60 batteries, quality feel and build, works well for heat shrink tubing, low-temp solder connectors, softening wire insulation and irrigation tubing. My primary application for this heat gun is electrical, mostly exterior lighting and audio wiring. Softening aged 12 gauge wiring, heat shrink tubing, and the low-temp solder connectors, all work great with this. Gun is small enough to fit in the electrical bag. Also have use this for basic adhesive cleanup - price tags/sti...

Great Tool
Needed a heat gun when freezer stopped working correctly, preferrablty one without a cord. Since I have DeWalt batteries I looked for a 20v bare tool. The gun did it's job, now I can also use it for working on electrical projects, etc. Another great benifit is Lowe's 10% discount to veterans.

Good for stripping paint from match sticks
Would Not RecommendI own several Dewalt tools so I purchased the heat gun based on the name, but it was a huge mistake! I'm stripping paint from old interior wood paneling. I went through three batteries in less than an hour. The tool has no power, the heat projection and wide are tiny, so I had to hold the nozzle right next to the wood to heat the paint up. I'd say its not useful for anything but tiny projects such as doll house furniture.

Just What I Needed!
Would RecommendI got this to start my lump charcoal grill more cleanly. I already had a few of the 20V items so I figured I would just get the heat gun without another battery and it works just as I needed! I would highly recommend this to anyone with a charcoal grill who wants an easier and cleaner way to start the fire and especially in a safer way without any additional accessories!
