Lost to self destruction

I think we drilled maybe 20 holes with this. It runs hot it seems. There was a gap in usage. Almost finished a recent project when it suddenly lost power and started smoking. I was worried it would catch fire even minutes after removing the battery. I had it a few months but the date stamp is over a year. Not putting money into fixing it. Never had a dewalt piece fail so easily and soon. I have pieces nearly 20 years old that work. Other 20v drills from 2013 that have had heavy use and are great...

Well built

This is a sturdy drill (compared to most drill mfg now) it is a heavy unit seems th have plenty of torque. Very nice so far.

A must

Perfect for those Small tight areas that you can’t get a regular drill into

Surprised at the power to drive hole saws.

To my surprise it stood up to drilling 2 3/4" holes using a Lenox hole saw in treated 2x4 studs. The majority of the holes were drilled using a larger drill but in tight spaces the Dewalt right angle 20v drill surpassed expectations in power and speed. Frankly I thought I'd burn it up but it performed well. And it saved me from buying or renting an expensive heavy duty right angle drill.

Smoke and sparks from motor

I bought this to drill through 2x4 studs for electrical installs with 3/4 inch spade bit. First time I used it, I was able to make a couple of holes no issue. It wasn't very powerful, but it got the job done. Then 2 months later I got it out of the bag to use again and half way through drilling the first stud, the motor started to smoke and shoot sparks. I should have read all the bad reviews from others and bought something else instead.

Good functionally but but went up in smoke

I really love DeWALT power tools and I own at least a dozen cordless tools and several corded ones. Nothing but great performance and reliability. But this right-angle drill is an exception and I am disappointed with DeWALT. While drilling holes through studs to wire my new house it overheated and went up in smoke. I liked the drill a lot until it failed, enough power for what I need and very compact. First DeWALT tool I have had fail on me.

Dewalt are the Best

This drill is exactly what I needed. Works great in the spaces I can't use my other drills.

Great for between studs and joists

I used this for some electrical install and it was a thing of beauty. It's compact enough to cut 2 inch channel in the drywall and then get a long spade bit to drill into the next stud bay, repeat as needed. Powerful and easy to hold and operate I recommend it for electrical work. I'll probably think of other applications now that I have it in my toolbox.

This is a "tool only"

The main description doesn't say "tool only," it is the tool only. No batteries. Buyer beware!

Garbage - Smoking on first use, burned up soon

I didn't get more than about an hour of use on this junk tool before it smoked, melted so that it couldn't be reversed, chuck brake doesn't work, etc. It works ok for the few mins before it's smoking and on the garbage heap.

Well engineering in so many ways except one.

There are plenty of things to like about this DeWalt product but it utterly failed in terms of my primary reason for purchasing it. The device is essentially useless it you need to use it in tight spaces that are about 4" or less. If Lowe's sold the Bosch equivalent I would have purchased it. It would have same me time, money, and effort.

right angle drill

Alright

Purchased this drill a few months ago for screws in a tight spot. For my purposes the drill head is not really much shorter than my impact drill and would have prefered a impact right angle drill to use with stubby bits or short impact driving bits, with a smaller head. Using it primarily for steel framing and rough carpentry in tight spots. However power has been adaquate, not overwhelming. Worked less than something from HF

Finally bought one of these for those tight spaces. Worked on several occasions but just recently burnt itself out. Lasted less than a year.

Dewalt 20-Volt Angle cordless drill

The cordless drill works great. Exactly what I was looking for.

Great as a drill but never worked on Low speed

I've been using this tool a lot since I purchased it but there seems to be a design flaw as I see in other comments that the Low speed (1) does not function for other people as well.
