Looks great for awhile but not long enough

I have a wooden cross-buck fence with 4x4 posts. I bought a total of 40 or so of these to cap the posts. They look great when new but after a year or so the copper finish begins to disappear. I read reviews advising such so I experimented with adding some spray on protection which helped. But it's just not reasonable to have to do that. I guess I should go pull them off the posts and return them to Lowes. These seem to be aluminum with some microscopic copper finish applied. I have a neighbor wh...

Copper plated plastic.....

Thought these were copper...not copper plated plastic. Installed four of these and in a month the copper started to bubble and gray spots appeared. Not recommended for outdoor, in the sun use.

NOT COPPER AND NOT STAINLESS STEEL

Painted aluminum finish pitted and corroded after 2 months. Defective and grossly mis-advertized.

Lowes Customer Care says that "real copper finish" means it is "copper looking", but contains no actual copper. They also say it is mainly stainless steel, which I believe since it is non-magnetic and for it's thickness seems too heavy to be aluminum. Good low price.

"Copper" post caps

Lowes advertises these post caps as copper when in fact they are actually aluminum with a copper finish, which I did not realize when I purchased them for our new fence. After 6 months they had become very discolored (and not with the patina often associated with real copper) and now detract from the appearance of our fence. Loose color and stain within a year

I live in NY. Within one year the copper coloring was badly stained, which could not be removed, and in some places gone. I bought these because the copper color looks better with my redwood deck than white or black would. These copper colored ones are at least twice as expensive as white or black ones and I would not recommend them to anyone living in northern states because of way they will look bad in less than a year.

For the most part these fit well

I bought these to replace wood caps that are deteriorating. I put a polyurethane sealer on as I don't know how long they will last otherwise. Hopefully it will prevent tarnishing if this is really copper. Some of my posts were slightly to large so I had to hammer them in to get the caps to fit. I used a rubber mallet to secure and didn't have any problems. The instructions for putting the glue on the center inside of the cap won't work unless you have a pointed post. great use to top off mailbox post

Bought 2 of these to finish off the top and back heavily weathered "pyramids" on my mailbox post. after sanding and refinishing the post and wooden box, I used 2 of these to make the mailbox look new. Worked like a charm! Waiting to see how long the copper finish lasts. And was expecting nail holes instead of having to glue them on. Be sure to get the construction adhesive to attach. We had some at home thankfully. Turns out to be a smoother look this way (no nails).

Great trim piece for the planter boxes that I have build. The copper has not tarnished yet, about 3 years of full time exposure to sun, heat and rain.

Neat looking product and easy to install!!!! The price was incredible!!! Copper looks awesome when weathered!! All you have to do is use glue to attach!

Very simple, straightforward fence post caps. Finish and feel are high quality and installation couldn't be easier.

Copper Post Cap

So far so good. I don't know the history yet of how they will weather, but very easy to install and fit perfectly.

This cap was affordable and a great finisher to my project. Fits perfectly atop a 4 x 4 wood post. Just added a little silicone.

Copper Top

Well built copper top. Simple, easy, instillation. Downside, not made in USA...we need to work on this. I would gladly pay more for an American made product !!!

Unbelievable price

I purchased these caps to dress up my mailbox post and I couldn't be happier. Easily installed - look is fantastic. And the quality is equal to ones I saw elsewhere for three times the price.
