Ratings & Reviews for Deckorators 6-in x 6-in High Point Copper Plastic Pine Deck Post Cap
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the elegant, copper-like appearance of these post caps, with many noting they look premium and significantly enhance outdoor structures. Most find installation straightforward with a snug fit on standard posts. However, many reviewers express disappointment with long-term durability, reporting that the finish deteriorates within one to three years, turning black, flaking, or peeling under weather exposure. Several note the plastic coating fails to withstand outdoor conditions gracefully. Despite durability concerns, most customers appreciate the initial aesthetic impact and consider the visual upgrade worthwhile.

Looks good
Would RecommendI have not installed this cap as I am buying materials to complete a deck expansion. It appears easy to install.

Topper
Would RecommendSpray paints well and ready in no time to accent your 6x6 post. Recommend over all wood product. I have had better long term use with the copper post caps. Holds spray paint well and looks good.

Looks nice. Snug fit.
Would RecommendAlmost too snug. I had to shave down the post. It looks great. I hope the color doesn't change due to weathering.

junk
Would Not Recommendbought for a 102' deck so I got a bunch. the "copper" washed off revealing the cheap black plastic underneath on all of them. I am searching for a quality replacement. Even my dog hates them having ripped three off with his teeth. not sure about his motives though.
Look great when new
Would RecommendThese were replacements for caps bought 2 years ago. These do look great, when new, but are poorly made and discolor/stain easily. The caps are plastic caps which stain easily so this year we sprayed the new replacements with a clear protective spray in hopes of preventing the discoloring allowing caps to maintain their shine longer. The faux bronze cap is attached to piece of plasic that is attached to wood frame. We reinforced with staples and extra glue to help prevent plastic from separating...

Copper Post Caps
Would RecommendI purchased these to match the post caps already in place, which they do nicely. HOWEVER, don't expect the copper finish to hold up. All the original post caps--4 years old now--have lost the copper finish and turned black. Need to find a good metallic copper spray paint to deal with this. They look good, but the durability of the finish is lousy!

Perfect as Bluebird House Roof
Would RecommendI use these post caps as roofs for a custom bluebird house design. The caps are too large for use with standard 1x6 cedar boards, so I rip 1x8 cedar down to the proper width.. I stain the wood portion of the cap and fasten the cap to the birdhouse walls with 1 inch steel brads.

Cooper 6" Deck Post Caps
Would RecommendWhen we saw these we just had to have them. They were easy to install and look great. Used these on the deck posts other that the two top posts of the deck stairs. We used the lighted cooper post caps there. All are wonderful products and make the deck shine

Not as it seems
Would RecommendJust understand that what appears to be copper is clear plastic. The underside of the plastic has had a brush stroke texture add then coated from the inside with a coating that is copper in appearance. Found this out aftr purchasing it an disassembling to apply for my application. In my case I would still purchase as it fit the bill but if your placing it next to real copper, the copper will naturally tarnish and this won't.

Nice Post Caps
Would RecommendI originally replaced a set of caps on my fence (not sure if by same manufacturer). the first set lasted about 6 years. I don't think the first set had as good of a copper top as these, but time will tell. Since the 6'x6' posts had shrunk some, I had to nail these on; glue would not hold. Basically just nailed to sides to the post. There was some gap between the post and cap, but cap should hold on fine.

I purchased two types of post caps for my deck. After trying them out, I loved the way the copper looked. I returned the plain treated lumber cap and purchased 15 caps in total for my deck. I stained them to match the deck and installed them Sunday. They look great.

They self-destruct in 8-10 years!
Would Not RecommendI love shiny copper! These tops looked great for a couple of years -- now mine are self destructing by year 8-10. When I installed them, I sealed the wood sections with Olympic Semi-Transparent Stain. This past winter was not a bad one, in Cleveland, OH, but now I have to replace 16 post caps. 16 literally came apart, piece by piece, side by side, several others turned black. . Call me crazy, but I expect when I buy something, using well earned dollars, that it will last. Maine Products needs t...
