Ratings & Reviews for Deckorators Tropics 1-in x 6-in x 16-ft Tidal gray Composite Deck Board

Bought this deckboard 4 yes ago. The hidden fastener were kind of a pain but once installed it looks great. After 4 years of use and sun they look as good as the day they were installed!!! Love our deck!!

Perfect for our deck

The boards were delivered and arrived intact. Perfect color for our deck. Love the color. Have not had any issues with chipping or scraping when moving furniture around on the deck. Would recommend if you are looking for composite decking.

finish is very easily damaged

Very attractive product. But, if you slide ANYTHING on the surface, even if you slide one board on top of the stack over another board, the surface will be damaged. I found a scrape 5 feet long across several boards after I was finished with installation. I can't even think of what might have caused the scrape, since I realized very early that the product was very prone to damage. Nothing I can do about it now, but look at it and be upset. I plan to ask for an adjustment on my purchase sinc...

Meh... depends on what you’re using it for

For me, the product worked fine because I just went for the cheapest composite boards available as I just needed to replace badly weathered treated deck boards on a shed ramp. I wouldn’t use it for something good like a deck or porch on my house... this product is a core of one type of material with a VERY thin layer of another material on the top and sides to give it the look... I used CAMO brand screws, the boards bulged at each screw head and when you try to clean that up with a utility knife...

Impressive

First impression with the deck boards were not changed at any time working with them. They truly stay straight and can be lightly manipulated to bend if you so want to. I used the hide away clips that gave the deck a great finish, which no screw holes and smooth top. With the addition of the fascia boards the deck turned out beautiful. definitely recommend. I have seen reviews complaining about the stickers, if you just lay them out of the deck under the sun they come off rather easily.

Tropics Tidal Grey Composite Decks boards

The Tropics Composite decking was a vast improvement over my treated lumber decks. We replaced two decks and they look great. I wish I had used the Tropics in the first place. No more cracking, splinters and best of all no more staining. I downed graded one star because you do have to use a little caution with these boards. While the finish is fairly tough, it is not indestructible. You have use caution moving outdoor furniture around on this decking or you will mar or damage the finish.

Easy Installation.

Tropics proved easy to install. Advice from the Pro Desk was also key.
