What Customers Are Saying

Customers praise the color match and clean, flush finish on composite decking, but many report significant installation problems. Reviewers frequently experience head stripping, with 10-30% of screws failing to engage properly even when predrilled. Heads strip before halfway insertion or break entirely when backing out. Several users abandoned these screws for other brands after multiple failed attempts with different drivers and techniques. Those who succeeded appreciate the seamless appearance and low-profile design. However, the T20 bit requirement differs from industry standard, and aggressive threading can cause over-driving. Despite aesthetic appeal, installation reliability remains a major concern for many.

Good Deck Screw with One Flaw

Would Recommend

These are good deck screws for composite decks. The thread pattern allows the screws to drive through the deck boards and below the deck board surface. Two things led me to give four stars instead of five stars. First, pilot holes are needed (unless you want to spend a lot of time trying to get the screw to "bite." Two, about one percent of the screws had their heads break when driving deep into the boards - especially when backing out screws. Overall, I recommend these screws.

Almost Always Strips

Would Not Recommend

The color matches the decking (Trex Foggy Wharf) sufficiently. They appear to be well coated. Don't try to drive these without pre drilling. The WILL strip out. A total waste of time. I have never had deck screws that were allegedly designed for composite lumber strip out. The description says that you don't have to pre drill; good luck. I thought that the bit included was junk but my own T20 bits did the same. Do not buy these to save time; you will most certainly need to pre drill. I c...

Minor design flaw?

Its a screw but when using them I felt that it created too much vinyl garbage at the top of the screw which frequently prevented it from seating properly. This is generated by the reverse threads intended to prevent mushrooming. Perhaps the pitch on that portion of the screw could be improved. In any case there were a number of times when the screw would not seat and I was forced to back the screw out to remove the glob of melted plastic from the top of the screw and then put the screw back i...

heads strip before even half way in

Do not buy these if you don't want to spend hours fighting them. I tried multiple bits and drill/drivers and even pre-dilling but no luck. about 1 in 3 would strip out. Finally gave up and bought different screws which went in without issues.

Head strips easy

Would Not Recommend

Never used a screw where the head strips so easily. I wish Lowe’s offered a different brand of color matched deck screws.

Trash as usual

Would Not Recommend

Heads strip far too easily during installation and/or removal. 20 years in the trades, I know how to properly drive/remove a screw. I should have stopped and gotten different fasteners when these were stripping upon installation. Haste makes waste. Just spent the last 3 hours removing 4 deck boards I put down only a few months ago. I could only back out roughly one out of three screws, leaving me to try to drill out the rest. Went through a handful of drill bits trying to drill them out with mix...

Strips Way Too Easily

Would Not Recommend

Even with pre-drilling, I found that 10%-20% of my screws would strip, regardless of what I did. At first I thought maybe I had a defective bit, but then I read reviews of others having the same problem. I hope I can return these!
