For larger repairs, it does take more time to properly fill deeper gaps, often requiring multiple applications. However, once it hardens, it performs very well and can be sanded to a smooth finish. I’ve also had great success with color matching. Plastic Wood takes stain nicely and works well with both oil-based and acrylic paints.

Would Not RecommendThe filler is very runny...like soft yogurt. Very difficult to apply on any vertical surface, especially to fill/patch decorative mouldings. I have had to mix it in the container, pour it out and form into a patty on cardboard, wait about 4 hours for it to slightly harden to a clay consistency, and then apply.

If you have a larger scrape or hole it is easier to put the filler in your hands and manually press into the area, then use your scraper to smooth out as much as possible for less sanding. It does sand easy. Yes, you can stain it; however, if this is anything larger than a scrape then when you are staining the area the color does not completely match up the wood that is surrounding the filler.
