Website shows the pull back mechanism which is why I bought these and when they arrived they were the push button version.

Different buttons

Picture has wrong buttons on it. The ones I got are not the good kind

These lock good.

Only reason for the 4* is they locking lever is not what the picture shows. I have the USA version from years ago which does have the slide lever shown in the picture. I ordered these thinking they would be the same slide lever like the ones in the photo, however when I picked up my order they have a push button and not the slide lever. Maybe the previous generation version had it and they are now selling a different version, but they haven't updated the photo.

Saved the day!

These locking socket extensions are worth every penny. They absolutely saved the day when I got a socket wedged in the hole for a spark plug. These locking extensions gave me the ability to pull the socket out, while simultaneously turning the socket. Once I did that the whole thing was done in seconds. I cannot recommend these enough. The locking switch is a little tricky to use in tight quarters, but you can make it work.

Waste of money

Apparently at some point they changed the design from a sliding button to a protruding push button. The push button breaks extremely easy making these extensions a waste of money. Wish i could get my money back but im outside thr 90 days.

These extensions do lock in place

These were a bit hard to get locally near me. I wanted two sets of these, so I had to go to two different stores. I also bought two sets of the 1/4" version. I have not used them for anything other than testing. They lock well and I specifically bought these for my spark plug sockets. My current extensions always slip off and are a pain to get out. Socket Extension Set

Great little extension socket set. The locks are super useful so you don't pop off the extension when working in a deep pocket. I highly recommend having these in your socket set if you don't have them already even if your a novice do it your selfer.

Not real pleased with these Craftsman locking extensions. After purchasing these, I discovered that my Craftsman 1/4" drive sockets don't have the machined indent inside the drive end that allows the ball on the extension to lock the socket to the extension. Yeah, I know that is an issue with the design of the sockets, and not the extension. However, when I use the extensions on my Snap On sockets, the operation of the locking extension is not very smooth.

Worked well for my job

On a plumbing job, I needed a set of crow foot wrenches - quickly. Locally only Lowes had that in stock and they also had these extensions (needed to use the crow foot wrenches). Worked fine - in fact, stellar - for that particular job. These have a little plastic "slide switch" that you push down (toward the center of the extension) when attaching or removing a socket (or crow foot wrench). Poor QC

While the idea behind it is ok, the release mechanism is poorly constructed. If you are working at home with them, maybe not so bad, however when using them for work and you need to get sockets on and off quickly and the mechanism has failed after only being used a few times...it's time to return them. I wish Craftsman would have stayed "made in USA" and spent a little more on Quality verses price. If you plan to use your tools professionally, do not waste your money on these.
