Worked great for a while, then not so much...

(I actually have quite an investment in Craftsman V20 garden and workshop tools, so I'm very familiar with the product line and generally a big fan.) Then the line feed stopped working... now it takes twice as long to complete a simple trimming job because I have to stop and manually advance the line by disassembling the head. Total pain! Starting to question my commitm...

Dissatisfied

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a light duty trimmer. I haven't had it but about a year and now when I try to use it, the head just wobbles around and won't work. I can't find any information on why this happened and how I might fix it, but found no information.

20v weed trimmer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As others have stated the string does not come out and you have to take the cap off to release more string. The cap does not last very long, I have changed it out 3 times in a year. The inner hub the string spool goes in is starting to deteriorate after a season of use. Other than that it has reasonable power and is easy to use.

Great for small yards

Great battery powered trimmer with dual speeds

I have owned this Trimmer for at least 4 years now, since they first came out with this design and it works every time. Still have the very same trimmer today. It rarely fails to advance string when the button is depressed and in most cases that is due to the string being stuck to the line reel. I use all 4MP battery's and can usually cover my 1/2 acre lot with two batt...

Stops advancing the string

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned 2 of these cordless string trimmer and when they work correctly I love them. The problem is that they quickly lose the ability to advance the string.i own many Craftsman cordless products and generally they are high quality tools. This trimmer doesn’t fit that category. The company sent me a replacement and it did the same thing.

Poor quality string

This weed eater is light and has minimal vibrations compared to other weed eaters. However, the string is poor quality and breaks often, even when trimming grass. This weed eater really struggles and cannot handle anything thicker than grass.

Great product with too small of a guard

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a quality made and strong product. The only issue is the size of the guard. The guard is too small and doesn’t protect the user. Other than the size of the guard, it is an amazing product.

Auto and Manual Line Advance Stopped Working

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Has been a good trimmer, still trims well but a couple years ago the line feed (auto and manual) stopped working. I had just bought 5 or 6 new line spools so I have just been manually advancing the line by removing the cover and pulling the line out manually. It looks like the spindle that the spool fits on has worn down and the spool is binding on the spindle so it cannot rotate as it needs to to advance the line. Almost out of line so will ...

Faulty line feed

The line feed doesn’t work. I have to manually pull out the line then I run it until the line breaks off and have to do it again. It feels like it takes double the time to get the job done.

Not a worthwhile product

I have the same problem as others. The line will not feed out. I have manually take the line cover off each time and hand feed the line out.

Strong issues

The string feeder doesn’t work. When I open it, the spool mechanism seems stuck. This is the second craftsman to do this.

Stopped working

Used it a few weeks ago and battery died.. recharged battery and there is absolutely nothing!! Stopped working all together. Been looking more into resolving the issue and not seems this is common. Only had a year! String feeder also never worked. Would have to take apart to get more string out. When it did work, it was great!

Works Great but comes apart!

Well it works great but like some other reviews, where the pole adjusts, it comes apart and won’t stay back together. I will vibrate so much it falls apart again so now it’s sorta useless.

Total waste of money

The first use, it was great. Its never worked with any replacement spools. I have to manually pull line out to use until it breaks off. Then manually pull more line out. I have watched endless videos on how to properly load a new spool in, fix what may be wrong, and it has never worked.

Craftsman V20 4Ah string trimmer mdl # CMCST910M1

I have had this trimmer almost 2 years and really only used it this year after I had a new yard put in. I've had no issues until recently. I went into my shed to use it and the top and bottom pole had separated. I took out the screws at the adjustment clamp to place it back and it will not adjust. It will not go back together. I spent alot of money on it, and own all craftsman battery tools, and now it is useless. Broken without any fault of my own, walked in and found it hanging to the floor...

Self feeding feature will not work

I used it three or four times and the line ran out. Loaded new line and the self advancing feature will not work. I have to take it apart when I need new line. I am disappointed.
