Poor ergonomics

Works great but controls would be better facing up some so you don’t have to bend over to read the buttons. Why have 2 buttons for open and close when you only need one. Drawer closes roughly with a big clunk and shakes cabinets.

Fire hazard and known defect!

My microwave caught fire twice and had to replace it twice now! This microwave model has a known defect the wheels coating wears away exposing the metal which then sparks a causes a fire to happen. It is such a hassle to get it replaced as well even though it’s a known defect to this model. I am on microwave number two and will never purchase this again.

Do Not Buy -Sparks!

Just like others, our microwave is defective. Just after 3 years, our microwave sparks from a small area of bare metal that developed in the back right corner. This is a widespread issue and I expected better quality from GE Cafe for the high price.

Do not recommend

We have had to replace this microwave 2 times in 2.5 years. The wheel rubs the paint off eventually and lead to sparking.

2 years old and it was arcing like crazy!

The microwave starting arcing. We have the extended warranty. Tech came out and said the main components on the inside are burnt up. Of course the warranty company Allstate is going to try and fix instead of replace. Parts back ordered. Going on week 3 no microwave. I expect it to last longer at this price point. It wasn’t even used heavily!

Sparking within 3 years of purchase!

We loved this microwave and how easy it was for our kids to use but now it is a severe safety hazard! After less than 3 years it is sparking and has the burn marks in the back corners. Reading other reviews it sounds like this is not repairable which is awful for how much it costs. We got 4 cafe appliances when we remodeled our kitchen so that’s a lot of money spent and now we’re worried about the life span of the rest.

Sparks

Ours is sparking just like the others that have posted. Def seems like a fire hazard and we are not sure what to do about it . Someone please contact me from GE to get this fixed.

Only lasted 2 years

Microwave only lasted 2 years before the inside paint wore in the far right corner causing arching. Looks to be a design defect - possibly where the drawer rubs.

Always Broken Since Day One

It’s now past one year old and out of warranty. It’s been fixed 4 times and broken again!!! The panel was replaced 3 times. Now the open and close doesn’t work!!!! This is ridiculous.

SPARKS

Horrible experience with this drawer microwave. We had to replace the motherboard after two years and now it is SPARKING. The wheel on the drawer is destroying itself. Poor design and a major fire hazard. Unreal to pay this money for a “quality, high end” microwave and GE will not do ANYTHING. I 100% regret my purchase.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!

I’ve used this microwave in my seasonal personal property. It’s had less than 1 hour of total run time and almost burned my house down. Read the reviews! People aren’t complaining about cold food, they are scared for their safety!

Poor longevity

Just over a year old and now it sparks inside and it has left a burn mark. Of course, they don't care because it's "past the warranty"

Known Safety Defect - Dangerous Sparking

Like many others have reported here, my unit has developed a dangerous sparking issue in the back left corner of the drawer. It’s disappointing to see such a widespread defect in a high-end appliance. This is a serious fire hazard and potential buyers should be aware. I'm hoping Cafe will stand by their product and address this fire hazard, as it seems to be a widespread defect with this model.

Same sparking issue as everyone else. Only hadthsfo 2 years and take great care of it. Never again will I buy this brand.

Cannot see the controls

The controls should be lit up. ours is installed in the island. We have to literally bend down, with a flashlight in order to see the control functions. Very poor design. otherwise it works like any other microwave.

A series of unfortunate events.

I have to say I am throughly disappointed with myself for choosing the cafe collection after remodeling my kitchen. We’ve had the appliances for a little over a year and my microwave is already having this sparking issue that others talk about and my warranty is no longer valid. My refrigerator had a drawer that busted off within a few months and I replaced that (another common complaint amongst those who purchased the refrigerator.) My dishwasher broke within 6 months. Sparking

I love this microwave drawer, but it’s only 2 years old and there is arcing in the back right corner and a line down the floor on the right side. I am afraid to use it and it seems that service with Bodewell is weeks out. I’ve read so many other reviews tat have had this problem so it seems as though this is a known flaw.

Super microwave

Love this microwave. Used it a number of times and it heats food evenly. It easily fits a dinner plate, a serving dish and a shorter casserole dish. Using the features is intuitive. The touch screen for opening and closing is really a great feature. Having a drawer makes placing and removing food easy and so much safer than an over the range microwave. This fact makes the higher price for a drawer microwave worth it.

Sparks

Arcing from the same spot as many others (rear bottom left). Cleary a design flaw, would be great if GE stood by their products. Especially those at this price point...
