Would RecommendI tried using a 1/4 Tapcon bit I had previously used on concrete and got nowhere after about 60 seconds of chewed threw the ceramic tile floor like it was noting. 3 seconds and done!

Good bit, not for porcelain
Would RecommendBought the bit when I didn't have my glasses so I didn't see the part of the label that states it is not meant for porcelain tile, which is why I bought it. Drills well in other materials but not in porcelain.

Ok. I had to drill eight, 1/4" holes in ceramic tile to hang 2 shower curtain rods in my new home. I got a standard, diamond dust bit and the first hole took 15 minutes to drill. Holding a drill above your head for 15 minutes feels like 30. The next one took 25 minutes, as the bit dulled. I tried 2 more bits (all marked as ceramic tile/glass bits from name-brand manufacturers) on my way to finishing hole number 5.
