Ratings & Reviews for Backyard Discovery Norwood 20-ft x 12-ft Hardtop Roof Steel Gazebo

We call it the Picnic Pavilion...

We were really impressed with the quality of the materials in our new gazebo. It went together beautifully and our builder was impressed too. Our experience with Backyard Discovery was great too. We highly recommend this company and product.

Heavy duty, quality parts, fast shipping

I went with Backyard Discovery because it looked the most heavy duty and durable compared to other brands. And I was right. I live in a windy area, and I can tell this gazebo will withstand the elements. Definitely recommend having at least 3 (maybe 4) people when installing the roff panels. Almost everything else can be done with 1-2 people. Took us a couple days to fully install and mount to a concrete pad.

Sturdy

The Gazebo is exactly as advertised. I look forward to next summer on the deck

Perfect gazebo

I purchased the Norwood Gazebo after owning brand at my old house so I knew what to look for . The Norwood is perfect for me , its construction is flawless. I had it assembled by your team and I’m completely happy .

Took weeks for 2 people

This took us almost a month to build as each step takes at least 30 minutes to complete. Just removing the shrunk wrap off of the metal took hours and multiple broken nails to complete. Even with a video, the instructions weren't clear.

Hot tub haven

This is my second gazebo in two years. The first was a Cordova for my outdoor dining table which was a phenomenal addition. We bought the Norwood for our hot tub so we can us it during inclement weather including snow. It has enhanced our spa time tremendously. Wish we had done this years ago. Looking to do a third over the grill area. I bought these because of their structure and ability to hold up in wind and snow storms. Just a great product and easily assembled.

Looks good, but too many pieces!

Everyone loves the gazebo, but you should know the corner posts are hollow and the long sides come in 3 separate pieces bolted together. Also, the metal roof doesn't have flashing at the side trim but really should have to prevent or ice from building on your roof. Design is nice once you finally get it together!

Love it

I spent a year looking at budget options for shade in the backyard before finally deciding to splurge on the Norwood 10x12. Glad I did. Assembly was pretty straightforward, there were a couple spots where the boards were warped or the holes were a bit out of tolerance and I had to drill them a bit larger to make things line up, but that's to be expected with wood. I did most of it myself, and then recruited a few friends to help me stand it up and complete the final steps. Would recommend at lea...

Old world craftsmanship….New world assembly

I am anticipating delivery of my 3rd Discovery cedar carport. They are fantastic and pictures just don’t do it justice. I highly recommend this company! Better get one while you can!

Finished product so worth it!

Bought this kit to replace an old metal frame rusted out pergola, was love at first sight when I saw timber frame inspired pictures. Build it slowly with help from my two sons, so proud to say I build the roof grid all by myself, a 66 year old lady. I also stained it with Cabot's Heartwood sealer which is the most beautiful color. We were so worried about getting the roof up there in the limited space but it just went up perfectly on the first attempts. Then I took it the rest of the way to perf...

Everything great, except the roof

I was really impressed with how this went together. Everything lined up well enough, and was easy enough to put together. My only complaint is the roof. The roof isn’t designed for places that have heavy rain the metal roofing doesn’t extend long enough to shed water properly. Both ends also don’t have any roofing material over them, so they are completely exposed to the weather. The design for this roof is a poor choice. The edges are high, with no roofing material, then it drops lower to where...

Fantastic Addition

We picked up the 16x12 Norwood to extend the coverage of our new stone patio. Everything arrived intake, all parts were labeled clearly, and instructions were very easy to follow. We are just normal homeowners (45 yrs old, owned our home for 20 yrs) and were able to fully assemble the gazebo ourselves. We did need a few extra hands to erect each half and it made it way easier to get the roof panels up when someone hands them up to you while you're on the ladder. We put our gazebo up on 20" c...

Solid product and easy to put together.

Turned out great. Exactly what I wanted.

Even better in person!

In the pictures this was great looking with lot of cool architectural details. It is even better in person. This came in some large heavy boxes, so make sure you have friends to help move and assemble it. But, it was easy to assemble with all the parts needed and clear easy to follow directions (took us a weekend, but we didn't slave away either). Would buy this again in an instant

Great Product, No Warranty

The gazebo assembly went really well, and it looks great adjacent to the house. I did not appreciate getting an email the day I received it saying that to maintain my warranty, I would have to perform labor on the gazebo that would far exceed the cost. Better to just tell customers there is no warranty, as that would have been more truthful.

Follow directions easy to put together

Very nice unit well made looks very good

Multi year review of several gazebos

Over the past several years I have installed three Norwood gazebos On my property. Two of them are 12 x 14 and one is 10 x 10. The quality for the price is fantastic. These gazebos are nothing like you’ve seen in big box stores. Much better quality.

well-designed, strong all cedar construction!

Bought 3 weeks ago to add permanent durable shelter over existing spa. Very easy or order. Good price (eligible for military discount…Thank you!) Shipping was very smooth. They sent tracking number and I followed transit. Arrived one day early and we are at 4300 ft altitude on side of mountain. It ships as Several large boxes on pallet. Two boxes are plywood lined. Everything arrived intact. No damage. We unboxed systematically onto covered deck and organized all pieces according to steps of ...

Fantastic addition to our backyard

The kit arrived at an incredibly busy time for me. We had just moved and I had many tasked to complete before leaving the country for two weeks. On Sunday night I decided my slate was open for Monday so I began reading and trying to understand the assembly instructions. Monday at 5:00 AM I began unboxing and stacking pieces in a logical placement. With a few breaks to recover from the heat, I had the gazebo erected and fully complete at 7:30 PM. We are thrilled with how this looks and are no...

Easy to follow build progression. The sorting of the hardware and box opening sequencing would be helpful.

I added 4 feet to the carport height to house my 18 foot travel trailer. I inserted 3.5” x 3.5” x 2’ posts into each 7’ post. I then sandwiched (2) 6” x 1.25” x 4’ cedar boards & (2) 3.5” X 1.25” to the center posts. I then attached the provided baseplates to the new extension posts. The build from that point was normal.
