The instructions were all screwed up. Perhaps I was supposed to mount this on a metal mailbox but the plastic one I chose would not allow it to be attached as per the instructions. I had to rig another way of attaching making the whole mounting bracket quite useless.

Installation was tricky on a post with a crossbar. It's really hard to access the nuts for the mounting screws for the mailbox-to-bracket. As others have said the screws that come with this bracket are cheap. The wood screw head broke while using a hand drill. It would be good to get your own high quality screws if planning to use a drill. It uses four #8 x 1 3/4 inch wood screws. Attached are the installation instructions for reference as well.
