No theft worries

It arrived on time and was well protected in the box. It is heavy solid built. I did not purchase the mounting plate, instead i bought squared off ubolts the size of the pre-drilled and long enough to drop pass a 4 x 4 and bolted it on tight. There were no surprises, however not a big deal but would have preferred to have the unlocking door in the rear vs front for safety and lazy reasons. This mail box will last for years. Good solid locking mailbox

This is a solid locking mailbox. I have installed five of these in the last few years. They provide another layer of protection to fight mail theft. Well worth the cost. I am surprised tho that Lowe's cannot make duplicate keys for this mailbox. You would think since they sell it that they would update their key making machine with the ability to make a duplicate key for this. I had to go to locksmith to have it made.

Nice Sturdy Mailbox, Tricky to Mount on Wood

This mailbox is a nice design, solidly build, and seems reasonably secure. Downside, it is designed to be installed on a post with a matching baseplate. It comes with no mounting hardware, you get that with the baseplate, and the mounting holes are huge, to accommodate 9/16" bolts . So if you are installing it on a wood beam, say like in a community mailbox, you need to come up with your own hardware. I used 4 #10 woodscrews 2" long in 5/8" brass washers. It’s sturdy and a solid metal mailbox, however for the price of it I had expected it to come with screws.

Beware

I went to get extra keys made for this mailbox at Lowe’s and found that the blanks for the keys are apparently not available at Lowe’s or it seems the US for that matter and so far impossible to find. The locksmith I then consulted said several folks have come in to buy keys for that same box. Lowe’s needs to be able to service what they sell. This isn’t good.
