Glad I upgraded

I finally broke down and upgraded my UPS. I had a very good UPS from APC, but since I now use Mac OS 10.8.5, I could not make use of the old UPS. The old UPS did not have a usb port. Well, I did buy it new in 2003 and it worked fine with the older Mac OS 9.x. The new one has a usb port and works great so far. All I had to do was unpack it, open the battery cover, plug in the red connector, replace the cover and plug in the power cord and usb connection to my trusty old iMac. Other than possibly ...

Backups

We use these units throughout our company and they work well. This was a replacement/upgrade for one with a battery that was going bad. We seem to get about 6 years + out of a unit before the batteries start to show signs of needing to be replaced. In our areas they are a necessity as we get power outages and spikes enough that without them there could be some serious damage or loss.

Great Products

I am very happy with APC products, they do protect everything plugged into them. I use them for my TVs, Computers even my modem/router. I hate brownouts ! Now I am using one on my home automation system

BE550G network compatibility

I use APC to protect my computer and TVs here in Florida and never had problems. I do have a question on the BE550G data protection. The documentation says RJ45 10/100 Base-T Ethernet protection, does this include CAT6 gigabit? Thanks

APC 550 great product!

Our small business has 8 of these for our PC workstations and they work great when the power goes out. It gives us plenty of time to save our work before shutting down if the power stays out for an extended period. I also like the fact that APC gives you a return shipping label so you can ship an old unit that you're replacing back to them for free, and they gave us a discount for the new unit. The units are guaranteed for 3 years. Very happy with this product.

Pretty good

Just used down in the basement to keep the router, switch, and DirecTV power inserter connected during outages. It seems to be doing that okay.

Love this battery back up. Almost every computer in our office has this model, plus I use it at home too. Great to have a chance to turn everything off properly when there is a power surge/wane/outage before losing vital information. Can't beat the warranty either. I really like APC's green return policy too!

BE550G

At only 17 months old this UPS worked very well until recently, when it could only give 15-20 seconds of backup during a recent power outage. Normally it gives about 10 minutes, enough time to shut down the computer properly. It seems the battery is no more good and it or the entire unit needs replacing. A previous APC UPS I owned worked for about 3-4 years before quitting. At this time I cannot recommend this model to anyone based on my experience. Maybe APC will step up and replace it.

Excellent product and service

My previous unit was 5 or 6 years old when the battery failed. I researched replacing the battery, but I wanted an APC replacement, not some after market product. Upon contacting APC, I was advised of their replacement program. Works great

I use this battery for my 82" TV. We have lots of power interruptions in Florida and this battery keeps the TV running.

Works as promised

This is not a glamorous product - it just sits there under my desk doing its job. But it does its job. I live in an area with lots of lightning storms, sometimes with short power outages, and that is what this product is for. Dependable and Affordable

I've been using APC products for many years. Since I traded in the prior unit for the current model, there haven't been any blackouts or monster power surges but I expect it will eventually save my bacon as its predecessors have.

Great low cost option

Have five of these installed. Perfect compromise between high end coverage (often over-kill) and cheap surge suppressors. Trust APC, love their trade-in process. Keep up the good work!

Always top notch

This the fourth APC Back-UPS that I have purchased. They have always performed flawlessly through storms and power outages. For some reason we have short intermittent power outages at various times of the year so instead of having to fire up the computer again or lose the page or site you were working on when their is a power blip it just switches over to the battery. Also protects against power surges to protect against any fried computer components.
