Would Not RecommendZip board used to be good stuff and the thicker stuff might still be. But this was no different that’s regular OSB.
It’s good
It’s a good product and worth what I paid for it last year. It’s not worth the $60 plus they want for it now, I still need the finish the front if my house and will use regular osb and house wrap. Price gouging on lumber is horrible right now with no need for it when the local lumber mills are stacked high with lumber.
I used this for exterior wall sheathing on my self-build home. At the time I purchased, it was cheaper than regular OSB. The green coating buys you more time to get siding installed in a wet rainy environment, so it was a no brainer compared to OSB and house wrap. The tape seems expensive, but works really well and is competitive with other flashing tapes on a price per foot basis. Lastly, you can hang these panels and tape them yourself, where wrapping with house wrap is really a struggle alone...
Not as good as I was hoping
Would Not RecommendThis stuff isnt what its cracked up to be. The painted coating scratches way too easy and the price is way to expensive. Tape is expensive and plan to fill most of your nail holes. Even an adjusted nail gun will tear too deep and cause over driven nails. I think standard plywood and house wrap would be faster and land better results.
ZIP System 7/16-in x 4-ft x 8-ft OSB Sheathing
Would RecommendGreat product, but with 2x4 framing could not buy the 1/2". OSB installed easy, used the caulking from same company and then taped.
Disappointed
Would Not RecommendWanted so bad for this to be as good as advertised. Thought I would use on detached garage before using on our new home. At this point If it wasn't so expensive I would tear it all off my garage. Pros... It is structurally far superior to OSB, hands down, especially the 5/8". But that's the only pro I can come up with. Cons... Will simply not save you time and/or money. Unless you dial in the pressure on your nail gun you will need to liquid flash every nail head, and pound down every angle sh...
very good system
Would RecommendUsing Zip for a new shed. It has withstood rain storms during building and the tape applies very well. Just a little stretch and their roller. You wont be disappointed with this system.
Saves time
Would RecommendSecond project with this siding for small cabin. Cost is actually less than regular OSB plus house wrap. Saves time because house “wrap” step is already done ( except for taping joints ). They say you can leave it exposed for up to 3 months. Left mine on first project exposed for 2 months and it weathered just fine, even the taped joints ( dry climate New Mexico ).
Great product
Would RecommendGood quality product, does what it’s intended to do. Turned out great for my project.
Best sheathing...Zip Brand
Would RecommendBest sheathing on the market. I really love and recommend all the Zip Brand products. This sheathing holds up to its name.
