Whirlpool washer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased in 2018. I have had 3 major repairs on it including replacing mother board. Now I’m also waiting for a repair to correct an E1 and F1 Code. Washer is beautiful but it’s only 4 years old and not abusively used. Still looks brand new.

A nice machine but...

Good luck getting to and cleaning the drain pump filter on this machine. Look at the picture, and you will not see it on the front of the machine. You have to take the front panel off to access it. Cleaning the pump is regular maintenance for most washing machines and should be performed with little skill. Look at other Whirlpool models; the drain pump is very accessible on the front of the machine at the bottom. Not for this model, though. It works well, but...

Still going strong

We purchased this unit and the matching dryer sometime in 2012. Both have been very reliable with no issues. Washer cleans well and spins almost all water out of clothing for quick drying. My wife uses the quickwash cycle most often. Usually I use the normal cycle. We do have the odor issue that most people struggle with on front loaders. Bleach only helps, white vinegar also helps. Affresh tablets help to some degree but the odor is only diminished, never eliminated with any option.

Cannot stand this washer

I am very disappointed I this machine. My brother thought I needed a newer machine and convinced me to buy this. When I wash some rungs the unit will not spin the water out of them. On other items if it is a small load they will not spin. I do not feel my clothes come out as clean compared to my old top load washer. Very disappointed

Wish I would have listened to my husband...

and bought a top loader. This washer has been spotty at best. When it's working, it's ok. When it's not working, forget about it. It has sucked up more socks than I ever thought a washer could and caused drainage problems that make it a real chore to clean up afterwards. The front flap is terrible, as it catches all kind of lint, causing even more drainage issues. I need something way more reliable in my life having 4 kids and seemingly endless laundry to do. And the washer is already out of war...

Whirlpool Duet Washer

Good washer but quality and reliability issues.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When this washer works it has excellent performance. However, after less than five years we experienced a catastrophic failure of the machine that is not covered by the warranty. Frankly, given the cost of this model we expected a higher quality level. Our previous washer was also a Whirlpool front loader that lasted eight years before total failure. Prior to that we had a whirlpool top loader that was still working after 20 years of heavy use....

I bought this last month. It is good.I wish the wash, spin, etc. words would light up.Time will tell as to how long it will last.

Great features

I had this installed a month ago and have to say I have not had one regret. Would recommend to everyone.

front loader

Do not buy this machine. I bought it 2 1/2 years ago and now it broke and to repair it would cost as much as the whole machine. Garbage.

Broke

I bought this back in 2012. MCU broke on it, $65 diagnostic, and $310 for the repair. In search of a new machine now, because I dont want to pay for something and it break again. Only lasted 3 1/2 years.

Final Conclusions

We thought it was just the Dryer that disappointed us, now the Washer makes loud noises while spinning. We're frustrated thinking this was one of the better brands and types of washer/dryers...apparently we guessed wrong despite the glowing reviews. My recommendation for long lasting durability pick another brand.

repair after repair

First, the weight counter balance broke of the top of the drum, tech stated it was a manufacture defect, 9 mos. later both computer boards shorted out, what a let down for us from a company with a good reputation.

Best washer ever purchased

Quiet and very large! Can wash king size comforter!

Would I recommend

I have had for 3 years and for the past 8 months have spent $800 and 3 service calls because the washer will not fill up with water. Have replaced almost everything. Now the washer is broken again.

easy to use

I have had this washer for over a year. Never had a problem with it. And its very easy to use.

Many Repairs! Seal inside door stinks!

The seal around the door stinks. You can buy products to clean it, or clean with bleach, but really it is a pain in the neck. If you don't clean it, it gets moldy. The drain always gets stuffed with infant socks, money, or any little thing you leave in a pocket-an empty candy wrapper etc. and then either you pay someone to clean out the drain because you don't know what is wrong, or with much effort and special tools you clean out the drain yourself after taking apart the machine, and it smells ...

i just basically love front loaders

brought the machine about two years ago and we love it, the color especially. but of course it washes our clothes to standard. we have never had any problems with the way it cleans our clothes

my old set lasted 16 years so went again with whirlpool. love them
