Paying $18.00 at Lowe's for an $11.00 item

Would Not Recommend

I went to Lowe's to buy two of these heater elements. The same elements down the street were 11.00. Not impressed.

Possible short in old element

Would Recommend

Manufacturer suggested replacing these elements as part of a fix. A O Smith even gave me an authorization number to pay for them, however, Lowe’s wouldn’t accept it. Still trying to get paid.

Simple task

Would Recommend

This is a definitely a DIY task. So thankful for the outstanding assistance from Lowe’s associates. Disconnect 2 wires, unscrew the old element, screw in the new element and reattach the wires. Done!

WE purchased a smaller size than we needed because thats all they had but it worked until we could order one online, worked great it just took a little longer for the water to heat up.

Working great

I believe that it is heating up my water faster and maintaining the temp better. Or it could be that I needed a new one. Hower the extra surface area makes sense.

Great quality & good cost for a much needed part to my home 50 gallon, electric water hearer.

more coil better heat, lower electric bill

Would Recommend

The larger heating coil keeps the water more evenly heated and lowered bill by $8.00 this month. Ditch those two prong coils.

Worked great

Would Recommend

Very good heating element. Worked great. Be sure to get a 1.5 inch socket as well, or you will be sorry if you are working on an older water heater. Once I cleaned out the lime, and put in the new element, flushed the system out, it all worked great. It was way less expensive than calling the plumber.

Fixed my water heater issue

Replaced the bottom element with this one from Lowes and it fixed my water heater issue. Only took a few minutes once I drained the water.

hot water again

Would Recommend

apparently my dad (elderly) hasn't had actual hot water in a very long time. He thought it was just water coming in was too cold (part of problem) or the plumbing in the house (it's a maze in this old house with new repairs patched to old work). I decided we get a multimeter to check the elements; bottom one registered 7 ohms, top one fluctuated between 8 and 11 ohms. We bought two of these elements and replaced old ones which were actually quite corroded copper elements. Tested both new element...

Works well

The element was very easy to replace...make sure you get the universal but sold around them to make changing it even easier (although it can be done without it). Make sure you drain ALL of the water first!!!!
