Ratings & Reviews for Utilitech 240 -Degree White Wire-in Replacement Motion sensor and light sensor
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The motion sensor has adjustable settings for distance and time, and many customers found it to be a good replacement for their old sensors. However, the sensor's range and sensitivity can be limited, with some customers reporting it only detects motion within a short distance. Reliability and durability also seem to be concerns, with many customers reporting the sensor stopped working properly after a few weeks or months of use. There are also compatibility issues with certain types of lighting, and the weatherproofing may degrade over time, leading to malfunctions in extreme weather conditions.

Would Not RecommendIn the past i set sensors to M - Now quality is gone no more sensativity for motion. 30 ft you need a grabage truck to activate motion lights.

replacement motion sensor
Would RecommendVandals had broken the motion sensor to an older security light. Wasn't sure if this replacement would be the right fix. It was perfect and the wiring instructions were easy. Thank you Lowe's!

never shuts off - even in daylight!
Would Not RecommendYesterday, I installed one of these after the original sensor on my light became filled with water. I spent more than two hours trying to install it, trying to figure out why the darn thing never would go completely off. I finaly gave up and returned it and got a different one, thinking that i must have bought a lemon. Nope! The second one does the same thing!! Always on dim, even during the day!! I will be returning (again!) and will just install a new fixture.
Short range
Would Not RecommendSensor does not activate light unless you are about 12' away. I needed something with a greater range.

Garbage! Only works with certain LED lamps.
Would Not RecommendWill not work with incandescent lamps either. Lowes should be ashamed of themselves for this being the only replacement sensor they offer!
Works As Described!
Would RecommendInstalled under carport. Light sensitivity for the Dusk-To-Dawn function works very well. Motion detection sensitivity function works well. Works as described, it has been 3 days since install (10/5 to 8/20). Followed included instructions for wiring. The Dusk-to-Dawn function works well with a dimmable LED light (type 38 base). No issues.
Utilitech GYQ27-W light sensor
Would Not RecommendPurchased a Utilitech GYQ27-W sensor at Lowes two years ago and now it does not work. Tried to contact Utilitech but could not find a contact number. Tried to contact Lowe's electrical dept. but nobody would pick up the phone. I have other sensors on my house that still work after 20 years.
Not a good replacement for me.
Would Not RecommendWires shorter than the old unit. this made installation difficult. The head adjust only up and down. I need left and right also. It is meant to be used as a straight on mount. I spent so much time wiring the short wires I will see if it covers the area I need.
Lasted a few years
I had to replace after a power outage. The lights came on and kept flickering.
Stays on all night by design
Would Not RecommendThe light never turns off at night. When there is no motion, it switches to dim mode, not off. The box has one little graphic that says "two level lighting", but it says nothing about staying on all night. It does mention it in a round about way in the installation instructions, but I've installed several motion sensors before so I just wired it up. I didn't look at the instructions until it wouldnt shut off. Maybe it's part my fault for not reading the instructions, but I'll bet a lot of p...
