It is easy to set up and works well

I saw a rat in my garage Friday night. Saturday morning, I bought this rat trap and set it up. You unscrew the bait cup from the bottom and add a bait (I inserted a piece of paper in the cup and stuffed some sharp cheddar in there). Then you screw the bait cup back in, and it will stick out from the top. You set the trap by pushing down on the hinge. On Sunday morning, I saw that the trap had caught the rat. I threw everything away. It works just as intended.

Sad to say not very effective

Sadly this trap hasn’t killed rats humanely from my experience. I trapped two rats before I stopped using this trap. The first time to my surprise the rat dragged the trap several feet away before dying. The second time the trapped crushed the rat’s face but this very pregnant rat was still alive and had also dragged the trap into a corner. I’ve found the traditional wood rat traps kill the rat on spot.

Mouse stole bait 2 times without springing trap :(

Looks fancy, easy to setup and add bait. Mouse took the bait 2 different times without springing the trap... Ended up getting him with a good old wooden mouse trap. This was a waste of $

When you order from them, you should specify don’t

Order 2 rat traps both. Were broken the missing pieces weren’t in the bag the door to the trap was loose they had to know that they were broken

Did not kill it

Ugh. The trap caught a rat during the night. It was head first and the trap snapped on his neck. However, when I went out late morning, it was still alive kind of moaning and whimpering and moving a bit. I felt horrible that it was suffering for hours before my husband had to take care of it. I feel badly trying to get a handle on the rat problem as it is but to catch one and have it whimpering in pain for hours made me feel just awful. It seems the trap wasn't strong enough to kill the rat. I...

A better rat trap!

Rats in the garden. Poison: not for me, because so many other critters feed on them. I definitely prefer the Tomcat to the older style spring traps. Easier to bait and clean, safer to set. Also, the rats can't nudge/jostle it into snapping out of the kill zone. However, because the trap is small and light, it was no problem for a red-tailed hawk to carry off the whole package. It only happened once so far- the cost of doing business I guess.
