I found it very difficult to set. I way 185 lbs and had to stand on the lever to set it. Could not just push it down with my foot. Nothing appeared to have happened after a few days so I removed the trap and manually tripped it. I was never able to set the trap again. Through it in the trash. I recommend avoiding this trap.

do not buy the tom cat traps. it syas that you can kill up to 10 mice, but that is not at a time, and you have to use the same trap over and over. they will not send you return labels to return the item very bad company to deal with, and their products don't match their description

Waste of Money

1st one I bought broke trying to set it, after gluing the plastic bar back together it somewhat worked but was extremely difficult to get it to set. I bought a second one and after multiple attempts to gingerly set it, it finally caught. I followed the instructions and advise of a professional and repositioned these traps several times, after 2-3 days of not catching anything each setting. Still didn't kill anything! Works

I had to move the trap a couple of times till I figured out the main tunnel, but the mole was caught within a day after I put it in the right area. It was a very large mole too.

Terrible! Impossible to set

Impossible to set with clay soil. By the time you dig out holes for the underground portion of the trap you have dug a big hole in the yard and completely collapsed the tunnel on both sides. Also, once you do set it alinging with where the tunnel must require laser precision. May work for experts in a perfect conditions. I don't understand how anyone has given this a positive rating.

Not worth the money

I bought this trap a couple of weeks ago and found it hard to set and the trap has gone off over five times and has yet to catch a mole. I ended up going out and buying an old trap with spikes and have gotten 3 moles.

Before returning, READ THIS

Before you return this out of frustration, make sure you try everything to get this to work. Yes, you will need to indent with your heel, and use a spade to make trenches for the jaws. However, even with doing this in my sandy soil, which is the easiest soil to set this trap up in, I couldn't for the life of me set the trap. It sat in my garage for a year, forgotten. Effective and easy to use

Bought Tomcat mole trap last month. Two days after we set it in the yard, it sprung and we got a dead mole.

Very Effective

I've had this trap for over a year now and have 5 kills. 3 of them this year. Make sure you follow directions and you will have the same results. If your not catching moles with this trap then your not using it correctly.

Doesn't work....

I have been setting these things in my lawn for well over a month now and had minimal luck. The trap springs, yet never catches a mole. Initially I wasn't digging a big enough trench, or so I thought, even after I dug out a large "trough" to deploy the trap, it still didn't catch anything. Every morning, the traps were sprung, but no moles. It seems that the forks below, don't clamp together and are caught up in the dirt (even after I dug out the whole area, which leaves a huge hole in your yard...

Made from weak plastic.

This thing is a pain to get set. While I was trying to set the trap one of the pinchers broke. It is not durable.

Inferior quality

Bought one last year caught 6 moles and then it broke. Bought another one this year caught 2 moles and then it broke. Spoke with the company last year with no results would not recommend them to anyone and will not buy another one

Tomcat Mole Trap wins the Mole War!

It took about a week and a half and it was the fourth tunnel that I placed the trap on but this morning I went out and the trap had sprung I had a dead mole. Best Mole killer ever

This is the best mole trap ever, works extremely well. For those having trouble a couple of tips. You do need to take a flat bladed shovel or something similar and slice in a couple of trenches in the soil where you plan to set the Tomcat. You also need to flatten the mole hill under the trigger of the trap. Pretty simple really, very effective.

These are the only solution

I tried everything. Gas, repellent, sonic spikes, ex-lax, juicy fruit, poison worms, poison peanuts, etc... Only traps work. But not any trap. I bought two spike style traps along with two of these at the same time. I've gotten two moles with these and none with the spike style traps. Somehow the moles were able to sense the spike traps and tunnel around them. Not so for the Tomcat traps. Just remember to set these along the main "runways". For me, these tended to be along the side of the house...

I used this twice, and on the second use the tab that latches the trap open broke. This thing is junk, buy a traditional mole trap, not this one.

Mole Traps-Tom Cat

I didn't have any success with these traps. I watched the video three ( 3 ) times, and followed the instructions on the box and I could NOT set the spring lever. I weigh 210 lbs.and I stood on the lever and it would not budge. I made the trenches deeper and wider all to no avail. I will be returning the two traps to Lowes for a refund. I'm just expressing my experience with these traps. If other people had success, good for them. My plan ' B ' is to use some repellent, hopefully that will work.

I've used several different types of mole traps over the years with very limited success. I found a great fall clearance deal on Tomcat mole traps, so I bought 2. I wish I had bought 10! I noticed new mole tunnels 2 days ago with the warm weather. I set a Tomcat trap and had my first mole in less than 24 hours. The only downside is that we have hard clay soil, and I had to work with a shovel to get it in the ground. But it was definitely worth it. It's game on, moles!

Unless you have superhuman strength, do not waste your time or money on this mole trap! I am by no means a 90 pound weakling woman, but I could not set this trap myself. My husband even had difficulty setting it.
