Would RecommendAs soon as I found out about a thicker square I bought one.I use aluminum squares only for layout and I use steel squares for the rough stuff. This thicker square makes me less paranoid of damaging it.But you need to know one thing: standard stair guages just barely fit onto it and you shouldn't be using them anyway because they are not accurate for rafters or stairs.Starrett makes what you need, #111 rafter and stair gauges. I breathe easier now knowing that my square won't bend if I tap on it!...

Great solid square even for minor DIY projects.
Would RecommendIt's very handy to have, not just for marking and checking square edges, but even as a cutting guide. It's great to have because lumber is often not perfectly square.
Worth the extra cost over steel.
Would RecommendMuch lighter and far easier to read than steel squares I have used in the past. Also, it will not rust. Overall, I feel it is worth the few dollars extra cost over steel squares. I particularly like the hole at the balance point that makes it hang vertically on pegboard, etc. I had worried about it being bent during shipping, but it arrived "on the square."

Good tool
Would RecommendReplaced my old trusty rusty steel one with this shiny aluminum square. Nice to be able to read the numbers again. Good price, good quality. The aluminum is a lot lighter and rusting won't be a problem, but it's naturally got a little more flex to it so the only concern is that it might get bent. Not a huge deal since these things are reasonably priced.
Excellent!
Would RecommendVery light and has info for cutting bird's nest in rafters.
