What Customers Are Saying

Customers praise the kit for straightforward instructions and quick testing, with many appreciating the 40 included capsules and value. The pH test earns consistent praise for accuracy and reliability, with results matching lab confirmations. However, significant concerns dominate: nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus tests frequently fail to produce color changes or give misleading results, even with known nutrients added. Many report capsules are hard to open, powder spills easily, and narrow test tubes are difficult to pour into. Despite ease-of-use appeal, most view it as a basic pH tool only, with the NPK functions unreliable.

Decent soil kit

Would Recommend

I think for what it is it's a decent product. On my result I believe the PH test was right on along with the potash. However it showed that I had no nitrogen or phosphorus. I think it may have been due to the age of the kit. Though I would not discount my soil being drained. Overall I would recommend this product as a stepping stone for new gardeners and if possible try to find one that was manufactured most recently. These products do have expiration dates and people should believe them.

Simple Soil Test Kit

I purchased the kit to test the soil in my raised planters. The kit comes with reagent capsules and 4 color coded test tubes. Directions are clear. Essentially you mix soil, reagent and distilled water in a test tube and wait for a color result that you then compare to a color grading chart to figure out pH, N, Ph, K. The capsule was a bit challenging to open and the powder will flop out of the capsule so don't do this on the dinner table. The test tubes are small, but the test kit comes wi...

I wanted to test the soil around my apple tree for PH and nutrients, and didn't want to wait for the results via snail mail. This kit offers 4 separate tests, PH, nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus. Each of those tests has supplies to perform each test 10 times. Performing the tests is straight forward. Dig down 6 inches, then scrape the side of the hole to take a good-sized sample, try not to contaminate the sample. I then sun-dried the sample, sifted, discarding small stones and debris. And fo...
