Would not buy this again.

The locking mechanism does not work. I was trying to figure out what keys worked with the lock and after trying a few keys I noticed the lock was getting looser. I was able to wiggle the locking mechanism all the way out and take the coupler lock inside the house to find out what key worked. Would never buy this again. Definitely not worth the $30.00 I paid for it.

Great product

This is a great product for smaller tongued trailers and I bought this for my utility trailer and it works great.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST LOCK - never fails

super sturdy - great design. very sturdy - the only issue we do have is that REESE should make their own keys / locks. Confusion was created when we were searching for a Reese key and we should have been looking for a CCP Key.

More of a deterrent

Like someone else mentioned, this isn't going to prevent a thief who wants to steal your trailer from getting it. I've had a trailer stolen that had a lock only a coupler pin lock and a log chain through the wheels and around the frame. This is better than the coupler pin lock, since it just takes the next smaller sized ball to get around that. I bought this as a theft deterrent. Its sturdy, easy to use, and was very affordably priced.

Universal Coupler Lock

This hitch is very easy to attach over the hitch hook-up. A small ball slips into the hitch and the enclosure slips over the top of the mechanism and locks everything in place thus preventing anyone from hooking up to your trailer and making off with it. Really an ingenious mechanism.

Simple protection

We have three of these locks on various trailers. We have never had a problem with rust and it goes together fairly easy. Not a heavy duty lock but a good deterrent for the grab and go thieves.

Great hitch lock

I bought this for my boat trailer hitch for added theft protection. It can be seen from quite a distance turns thieves away before they get to it. Adjusts very easily seems to be a good sturdy lock with two keys.

False Security

I liked the idea and thought once I installed the Reese Universal Lock on my trailer all was good. I even kicked. But a thief hit it once with a simple claw hammer and the lock cylinder blew out and the loop slide right out. The ball section broke off which I had thought eas molded to the body. It was a cheap pot metal ball just stuck on a post. Visually this thing looked great but it is only "False Security."

lubricate it periodically

if you periodically lubricate this lock with wd-40 you will get years and years of good use out of it

Perfect fit!

Having need for a way to keep our trailer more secure this purchase was just perfect. The design makes it simple to use. It appears to be durable enough to give several years of service. The price seemed in line and beats using a pad lock only.

All they had to choose from, purchased in a pinch

Someone hammered off my first one identical to this, keeps honest people away. Purchased the second one with hd chain and a couple clam shell style locks. Looking for a better quality, will not buy a third.

Rusted and useless

This product lasted four years until severe rusting finally made it unusable. I would not suggest this lock for a salt water enviroment.
