What Customers Are Saying
The Orbit Digital Hose End Timer has a mix of positive and negative feedback. Many users find it easy to program and use, with features like automatic watering that save time. However, a significant number of customers have experienced issues such as the screen going black, the dial breaking, the timer resetting or not turning off, and the battery compartment rattling loose. Some also report the timer leaking or not closing the valve properly under pressure. While the timer works well for some, the reliability and durability concerns raised by many customers are a significant drawback.

Would RecommendI use this hose end timer for controlling the drip irrigation pipes in my raised garden bed when I am away. I stress - only when I am away. I would not rely on a battery timer like this for full season day-in/day-out control. I take it off when I am home and use a mechanical dial timer instead. I put it back on (always with fresh batteries) when I am going away for a few days/ up to a week or two, and even then I ask a neighbor to pop in and take a look and make sure my yard or garden is not ...
Easy to program and use
Would RecommendThis was very easy to program and install on my water line. Been working great.
Nice idea in theory but not in reality.
Would Not RecommendNice little unit when they work Unfortunelty there lies the problem This was the 3rd one in 4 years and when it started acting up after a couple of weeks that was the final straw. This one started displaying a low battery display. I ended up changing out batteroes 3 differzout and it would work for maybe a day and the same symptons. Ijust couldnt rely on it so it went back to the store.
Timer turns on and off when we set it for. (We have it on 5 min. every 2 hrs.) but the time on it keeps doing funky things. Does not keep proper time. This does not seem to affect it turning on for 5min. every 2 hrs. like we want. Might pose a problem if you are setting it for different times often.
great
Would Recommendworks better than I planned. I planned to make my own timer valve until I discovered this. cheaper than parts to build my own. BUT. it is plastic. plastic cracks when it is freezing. SO. DO NOT LET THE WATER FREEZE. would buy again if I have another need project.
BATTERY COMPARTMENT RATTLES LOOSE!
Would Not RecommendI BOUGHT IT ON SUNDAY AND TESTED IT THAT EVENING. IT WORKED FINE. IT WAS PROGRAMMED TO TURN ON AT 6:45 (EVERY 12 HOURS). ON MONDAY MORNING, IT CAME ON FOR 2 SECONDS AND SHUT DOWN. UPON INSPECTION, I SAW THAT THE CLOCK HAD RESET TO "12:00" WHICH TELLS ME THAT THE VIBRATION OF THE VALVE OPENING AND CLOSING RATTLED THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT JUST ENOUGH TO LOSE CONNECTION. I WILL TAPE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT TO THE CHASSIS SO THAT IT CANNOT RATTLE LOOSE AND SEE IF THAT FIXES THE ISSUE. IT SEEMS...

Timer not keeping time
Would Not RecommendHas stopped keeping time twice since purchasing last week. Put in brand new akaline batteries. Springs holding batteries in place, don't seem strong enough. Water, when it first comes on, maybe loosening batteries? Will return today and try another one.

Poor programing
Would Not RecommendI Purchased three of this style hose timer. Within 48 hours two of them would not hold the programed time settings. The time would reset to a 12 AM time. When reprogrammed within a couple hours they would revert back to the 12 AM time setting. I took two of them back to Lowe’s and got new ones. So far one has already started doing the same thing and I’m just waiting to see what the other two are going to do.

Digital clocks are unreliable.
Would Not RecommendThis thing is junk. The setup goes just fine. Set everything to water my yard for an hour every two nights. Worked great, then I realized that the clock doesn’t keep time. I have to reset the time every other day. It appears that the battery power resets itself every so often. Will not buy again.
That reset shouldn't be happening - at least not with good batteries, anyway. Please contact our Support team at 1-800-488-6156, and we'll send you ...

Orbit seems to have a problem
Would Not RecommendI bought three of these to replace the Orbit dial type that would not shut off. Got home, set them up and tested them. I have one on each section of my garden and use it for drip irrigation. 2 wouldn't shut off. So i installed the regulators BEFORE the timers. Regulators are 25 psi units. Well water max pressure is right at 62 psi either way it's under the max 70psi rating. Finally both worked ok. Now 2 weeks later one quit and wont shut off. It's going back and i'm going back to Dig timers.
Jim, thank you for the feedback, though we're sorry that your timers exhibited these problems. Please contact our Support team at 1-800-488-6156, an...

In my experience timers have short lives - 2-3 years - at least here in Phoenix. Would recommend buying a higher quality timer if you can find one.
Hose end timer
Would RecommendIt is doing the job and very easy to set up and program. I have one concern that moisture is getting in under the dial cover even with the timer in the vertical position. Hopefully the dials and controls are waterproof and sealed.
Digital timer
Would RecommendI needed a timer for the tomatoes I planted in the greenhouse. This one was easy to set up and easy to program
Has worked reliably for several years now.
Would RecommendWe use this timer with a pressure regulator to run an irrigation system for the hanging plants on our front porch during Spring, Summer & Fall. It has worked reliably for 3 years now. The batteries last a long time, a full season or more.
water timer
Would RecommendI bought this timer together with a drip irrigation system so our plants would not die why we were gone on vacation. It worked like a champ and was simple to operate. We came home to plants that were healthy and the wife was happy so I am happy!
Orbit 1 digital water timer
Would RecommendGreat product for small garden. Easy set up for a fair price. Tried other brands that were more expensive, harder to set up and wouldn't work.
Oribit 1 Digital timer
Would RecommendThe timer was affordable which was the reason I bought it. It was easy to set up, pretty straight forward and has been working well so far. I used the 1/4 hose and small sprinklers which worked well for my small garden. Cannot attach too many sprinklers, which may be my water pressure problem being too low, but it worked well for what I wanted which was low cost and ease of setting up.
