Great Dust Separator for Mobile Tools

I was looking for a dust collection system for my mobile miter saw station. I attached this to a small shop vac that and found that it works surprising well. I did have to get another hose, since the one supplied was too short, and the appropriate fittings (2-1/2" to 2-1/4") for the saw exhaust port. The dust collects in the bucket and not the vacuum.

Mixed Bag

To good news is that this product works EXACTLY as advertised... It's really amazing. That said, if you use anything north of a miter saw or palm sander (like a planer, jointer, or a table saw with a dado) expect this separator to clog. - a lot of stars because both of the ears that hold the separator to a 5 gallon bucket have snapped off making this thing garbage.

Latch design very poor

I wanted a low profile dust collector. Tried to fit this to a srandard "Orange" 5-gal bucket. The latches are designed very poorly - could not get them to move inward enough to grab the lip. Tried a "Red" (HF) bucket and had the same problem. Standard hinged clip design would have been so much bettet. Returned it.

Very cheaply made

VERY thin plastic lid for a 5 gallon bucket, but thinner than a regular bucket. Think tupperware or other kitchen storage plastic. ASSEMBLEY REQUIRED - for some reason the gasket for the lid is not installed and must be fitted to the lid. It is not a round gasket made for a bucket lid, but just a strip of self adhesive weatherstripping that must be cut to fit. Way too cheap for $55.

Works well

Love this. Collected all the sawdust from my planner and is easier to empty than my shop vac. Only bad thing is having the two canisters makes it awkward to drag around.

Works as well as my other Dust Deputy. I do like that it's shorter because it fits under my bench.

Don't expect more than 70% dust capture.

It doesn't work as well as I had hoped. A good amount of dust makes it to the shop vac, which is exactly what it was designed to prevent. And it does tend to collapse the bucket on which it is mounted. I will continue to use it because I have no other options. Just be prepared to install a bag-type filter in your shop vac and use a hose on the exhaust side with a sock over it.

sorta works

I installed this on a lowes bucket. What I found was this is the worst latching system very difficult to get it locked down. I then started to clean the shop and immediately got a clog. shut down the vac to clear the clog and notice the lowes bucket had collapsed to the point it had split. getting the latches uncliped was easier than getting it attached. I will just uses this at the router station and see if it works. The jury is out for deliberations.

Used to collect drywall dust from electric sander. Captures a great deal of the dust, extending the life of the shop vac filter.

Great low profile.

I like the height of this separator. I've had only one chance to use it so far, but the sawdust definitely accumulates in the bucket, not on the vacuum filter. I did have to try three buckets before I found one that easily attached to the separator. I am interested in how much dust is collected the more it gets used. Looks like a good product.
