What Customers Are Saying

Customers overwhelmingly praise this polyurethane for its ease of application and fast drying time, with most noting it levels smoothly and dries in two to four hours between coats. Many highlight that only two coats are needed instead of three, saving time and effort. Reviewers consistently commend the durable, professional finish that enhances wood with a warm glow and resists scratches. Several note excellent coverage, with one gallon covering large projects. However, some customers report strong, lingering odors requiring excellent ventilation, and a few mention inconsistencies between product sizes or receiving incorrect sheens. Despite these drawbacks, most consider it highly effective and reliable.

Blackens floors, Poor Quality Conrol

Would Not Recommend

1. This product contains dark pigment and therefore will "stain" your wood quite dark. Nothing clear about it. 2. I received a satin finish in a semi-gloss can! Yes, I stirred it extremely well first. It appears the manufacturer simply put the wrong product in the cans/lot that I purchased. 3. Now I have to buy a different product and redo 1000 feet of hardwood floors. Manufacturer ought to pay for it in its entirety. Otherwise seems to be durable, and this is the first time Minwax has let me d...

Quality Finish

I recently re-finished my old plank hard-wood floors. used oil modified the first time with three coats, everyone liked it but me. Finished the rest with this with all oil. it took substantially longer to dry, however the oil finish can't be beat. it put a beautiful finish on. i gave 4 stars because the cans had some sort of sediment in it. i have old, wide wood plank floors, so it didn't matter though

Do not get the low VOC version

Would Not Recommend

Don't male the same mistake I did. I had used the regular version of this product in 32oz containers before with great results. I bought a gallon for a larger project and didn't realize it was the low VOC version. It smells horrible like formaldehyde, makes me light-headed and dizzy even in a well ventilated area (my garage with the door open, can't get more ventilation than that), doesn't go on as easy. The only thing thing that gets this product more than one star is that it actually creates a...

I replaced some old tabletops on our folding tables and coated the new ones with poly to make them waterproof. It gave them a nice shiny finish. I was very pleased with the results

Only buy enough for the job

Would Recommend

Although I am pleased with the results, I bought a gallon to ensure I had enough. I found that each time I opened the container to apply the next coat, a dried film had already developed on the surface (like pudding). I had to remove this film first. This film developed even with a sealed lid on.
