Over-engineered junk.

I'm looking at my brand-new Kobalt utility knife as I write this. I purchased it about 4 hours ago and have been using it for 2 hours. After each cut I retract the blade so I don't give myself elective surgery as I adjust the work piece. Each time I subsequently attempt to push the blade back out so I can use it again, the device bucks and stalls like a blown transmission. It a nice blade cutter. The blade retracts easily, and changing blades takes about 20 seconds with no tools needed. Fits great in your hand.

Poor quality utility knife

This knife is not well made. It jams easily and doesn’t feel like it will hold up well

Redesigned utility knife.

I have used this type and brand of utility knife for years. The older versions utilized small internal magnets to secure the spare blades. This newer knife uses a piece of spring wire to hold the spare blades in place. This spring failed on the first day of use. Now care must be taken when opening the knife for blade replacement.

Just ok

It catches pretty badly when extending or retracting the blade. But it's decently sharp and holds in place well during use.
