Would RecommendThis bolt cutter was purchased to replace an older vintage chicago tools bolt cutter. The cutting blade appears to be forged hardened steel and cuts high strength chain with ease. The previous bolt cutter had Cast steel cutting jaws and eventually chipped. This bolt cutter had better leverage with same jaw opening!
Good Bolt Cutters
Would RecommendBetter than average construction, fit and finish for a tool made overseas. Bought it to cut up old cyclone fence and it did a great job of it. Jaws remained tight and true for the limited workout I gave it; seems like it should hold up for limited homeowner use.
Kobalt bolt cutters
Would Recommendused to cut ventilated shelving material. cut even the large diameter rods very easily.
24-in Bolt Cutter
Would RecommendThese bolt cutters are capable of cutting through just about anything that will fit in between its jaws. High leverage allows for an easy cut. Clean and easy to use. A bit pricey, but worth it.
One of the best bolt cutters I've ever used
Would RecommendPurchased these bolt cutters for general purpose work. My first project was dissecting the springs for a king size bed. There were various sized pieces of hard and spring steel in the bed and it cut through each piece--hundreds of cuts--without chipping the jaws. They are also excellent for cutting chain-link fence. They follow the traditional style for bolt cutters, and I especially liked the handle design. They were very comfortable. I was an electrical lineman for years and have used many sty...
Weak bolt cutters
Would Not RecommendI purchased these cutters to cut small locks off employee lockers in an area of our company property about to be demolished so we could save their stuff. These made it through 3 locks before denting badly and losing a cutting edge, then cracked the cutting blade on a small $10 padlock. It's hard to believe this product made it to the shelf at Lowe's with the Kobalt name, I usually have good experiences with Kobalt tools - but not this one.
Not so good really
Would Not RecommendA couple of things.....first the jaws do not open as wide as I would have expected for a 24" bolt cutter. If you don't believe me compare them to the jaws of the 18". Secondly, i went to cut a steel bolt and the jaws got dented. not only that, they would not cut through the steel bolt. I had to end up using a saws-all with a metal blade.
