What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this electrical outlet tester for its accuracy and ease of use, with most highlighting its ability to instantly diagnose wiring faults like open grounds, reversed polarity, and open neutrals. The clear LCD display and color-coded indicators make results easy to interpret, while the GFCI trip time measurement feature is frequently cited as valuable. Reviewers emphasize the intuitive, plug-and-play design requires no electrical expertise, making it ideal for homeowners and professionals alike. Most describe it as reliable and durable, with electricians noting professional-grade performance. A few mention limitations with 240V circuits or occasional issues with abnormal voltage readings, though most consider it an essential diagnostic tool.

Great for the homeowner too
Would RecommendThis tool came in handy when we had some issues with the power outlets in our house. It helped us to discover mis-wired GFI outlets and a few other outlets not properly grounded. This is a great valve and adds piece of mind to this homeowner.

Rt250
Nice tester, I like the voltage display and the GFCI trip time. But code requires receptacles to be installed ground pin up which means I can't see the display on the tester wo using a short extension cord. Should have had the ground pin on top of the tester

Used Product
I received a USED product that had been opened and the batteries were missing. I didn't discover this until pulling the product from the bag a week later after my curbside pickup. Do better, Lowes!

Has a minor flaw
Would RecommendIt is a nice general purpose tester. But I discovered a problem. It does not identify a NEMA 5 outlet that was wired to 240 volts (circuit was incorrectly labeled). All the RT250 said was 30v ground/hot reversed. It had a stern warning that it was limited to 120v. The RT250 needs to be redesigned to handle this situation and report the fault..

Didn't need it but need it
Didn't really need this device as I would just use a multimeter to very the outlet is correctly wired; however, with newer outlets with built-in safety covers it's near impossible to get the probes into the outlet. It also prevents the use of alert voltage tester to see if the outlet is live. This unit tests the outlet wiring and verifies that the outlet is live along with testing GFCI circuits. A must have device when needing to verify an outlet is live or correctly wired that has built-in sa...

Was able to quickly diagnose open ground problem
Would Not RecommendPro: Electrician I hired used this tester to quickly diagnose my open ground problem. Con: Specs say 135volts. Not sure what that means. Many yrs ago I had a plug in receptacle tester blow up in my hand due to the receptacle (ckt) being wired wrong. Had 220volts on it. Needs to be rated for 600 volts because its possible that someone could accidently or on purpose wire a receptacle up that way in a commercial or industrial environment. I personnally would not use one of these unless it c...
