Works well once you get used to it.

Works well after you figure out how to use it. The method for loading and then pushing to food onto the grinder was not entirely intuitive from the design of the item that looked like a cup but was actually the plunger. Maybe clear instructions were available, but we didn't find them.

Worked ok, until it didn't!

Unfortunately, I have a similar story to many others posted here. We have a stand mixer that we have used for many years and it continues to work well. The grinder was an infrequently used attachment that seemed to be working OK. Yesterday, however, the housing for the grinder basically exploded and broke into several pieces. Fortunately, no one was hurt and the mixer isn't damaged, but the grinder is complete destroyed (see pics). I am not sure what warranty coverage is available, although...

Should I buy a replacement?

Please note that I am reviewing the meat grinder that I have had for MANY years. At that time, Kitchen Aid was the best mixer on the market, and everyone knew it! I love my mixer and use it frequently to make large portions of mashed potatoes, hamburger for meatballs and meatloaf, etc.. It makes mixing so much easier. Bolt Snapped

Only use this grinder to grind up meat. Definitely was not happy when the bolt snapped. And can’t even get replacement parts for it. It worked very well and was so convenient for the few times it did work. Only got a handful of uses out of it before one of the bolts snapped.

Useful for light work. Don't push it.

I bought this item a year ago. It works fairly well for light use, but not for heavy use. If you are trying to grind tougher cuts of meat with sinew I would get a dedicated grinder with a anti-seize mechanism so parts don't break. Which gets me to the three-star part... This past weekend I was grinding some liver. Right after I started I hit some sinew (not sure how that got in there!). Great results!

I've had this KSMFGA for several years. I buy beef chucks and prork shoilders and make hambuger or sausage. Saves money AND no mystery ingredients! Left-over holiday ham makes great ham salad. Only one concern; the housing is cracked at the mixer end. Doesn't seem to affect performance.

It broke

We have used this grinder to process meat. Today, it broke. One of the bolts that holds it all together broke and now we have a whole bunch of meat that we can't grind up. Definitely not happy with this! I wish I could add pictures but when I click on "Add images", nothing happens.

Can damage the mixer

I tried to grind apples. Apple juice ran into the mixer motor, caused all sorts of sticky problems. This grinder can leak, and damage your mixer. Do not buy.

Awful

Food grinder could not handle fresh veal that I needed ground up, despite the picture on the box clearly showing meat grinding. Had to spend more money to buy an actual meat grinder.

Dangerous to operate

It broke after the fifth use. the blade flew off and hit me in the chest. I do not recommend this accessory to anyone.

Terrible

All 3 of mine have cracked and broke not worth it! Leaves you stranded

Cracked Housing

I use my plastic food grinder 3-5 times a year. Mainly fruit and cheese. The main unit has crack like other reviewers noted. Not sure why as I hand wash. Would the metal one be more durable? I would be wary on purchasing.

Breaks into little pieces and gets in your food.

I bought this and little bits of plastic got ground with beef.

Caution

I purchased this attachment a couple of years ago. It has worked great...until yesterday. While in use the plastic locking collar split all the way around and the piece nearest me flew off and struck me in the chest. Dangerous. I definitely would not have children near while in use.

Disappointed

I bought this 2 years ago. I have used it less than 10 times with mixed results. If I froze the meat slightly, it did perform better. Then the plastic housing opened at the seams. Not even while it was in use..while stored in the drawer. I asked twice for information about the warranty...crickets. Finally I dug up the information myself and see the warranty is limited to one year. At this point the quality of Kitchen-aid has gone down so much they aren't even the top pick on America's Tes...

Product failure

The grinder works fine but the plastic has split and we have not used the grinder very much at all. I have many attachments and love all of them but this grinder is not a product that stands up to the KitchenAid name

Kitchen Aid Knew about this defect

I have a very light use for this attachment on my kitchen aid mixer. I use it once about every two months to grind 5-6 Pounds of chuck beef. This is is cracked and dangerous to use. Kitchen Aid knew everything about the defect in manufacturing and is quiet about it instead of honoring the defect and refunding customers. That is how credible Kitchen Aid is.

Love this

I use this often between making the filling for my homemade tortellini or making my own italian sausage. This is such a time saver. I received this as a gift and didn't think I would use it as often as I do.

Works Great but Doesn't Stand Uo

Had it for several years, We use it for stuffing sausage only, we grind with a different grinder. had to replace the funnel due to it cracking and now the body of the grinder is cracking,,,
