Not durable/ potentially dangerous

I bought this attachment to replace the former hard plastic slicer/shredder which I used for about 20 years. It was a wonderful attachment and my go-to for shredding cheese, chocolate bars and carrots. I’ve been using this newer style shredder/slicer for a little over a year. Plastic cylinder broke

My husband bought me this for Mother’s Day this year and I’ve been using it for shredding cheese for my sourdough cheez its! It made it so easy! Today the plastic tube broke from the base and after looking at the reviews it looks like I can’t fix it or use the warranty to replace it! Ugh very frustrating.

Broken & Disappointed

Very disappointed. The Feed Tube has broken apart from the Attachment Housing, rendering this accessory completely useless. I've only had this for less than 2 years & only used it once every few months for shredding cheese. Always hand-washed. Can't find parts for this. For something so expensive, I would have hoped to get at least 10 years considering how often it was used.

Disappointed in quality

I bought this in 2019 but only use it during zucchini growing season. Today I was using to shred zucchini and the plastic tube broke off from the housing. Very disappointed. It should had lasted a lot longer than this.

It's horrible

my old shredder was on it's last legs so I got this. Was trying to shred some cheese. It got all gummed up in it. When I finally got it to shred I couldn't get the attachment out of the casing! I am not happy at all. The old attachment worked perfectly!! Sending this one back.

not good

HUGE disappointment, shredded items clog up inside cone. now the feed tube came off the attachment housing only used it three times, hand washed it after use and cursed it every time, I wish i never bought it.,

Not good enough

It definitely made grading and slicing quicker. I think it worked better if you were using frozen cheese instead of just refrigerated cheese. When I would slice cheddar, it would come up under the blade a lot my main problem with this product was that the clear portion where you fed the food through broke off from the white portion of the product, which holds the blades. Could be great

This could be a great product. Unfortunately, the plastic feeder tube broke almost immediately which really impairs the effectiveness of this attachment. I'm not willing to buy a whole set again to replace the plastic piece. KitchenAid, judging from the reviews, I am not the only one who has this problem. Please offer a replacement for the feeder tube. It's impractical to buy a complete set when the only thing required is the tube. Thank you.

Broke after 4 months

After the first month maybe 3rd use the chute broke off the body, I glued it back on myself. About 2 weeks ago the lock for the blades broke, I feel like it's always breaking.

Third time's the charm...maybe, we'll see!

I truly love this attachment, BUT I am on my third one because it keeps breaking where the clear plastic separates from the white metal compartment. Please make an all metal one and forego the plastic shoot. I gave it an additonal star because when it works, its a game changer!

Worth the Purchase

I inherited my MIL’s Kitchen Aid K5-a mixer. I immediately purchased the Fresh Prep Slicer /Shredder because I shred block cheese weekly. I cannot explain my sheer excitement and satisfaction of how well this product performed. Unlike most shredders, I did not have to pull compacted cheese out of the blade rotor. I expected better quality from Kitchenaide

I have used this shredder attachment twice. It shredded cheese fine, but today I attempted to grate an onion. It took multiple passes to get a small amount of grated onion because the majority of it ended up outside of the metal grater and even blocked the feeder tube. Better yet, the inner feeding tube is now broken because I tried to remove an onion wedged onion layer. I also cannot remove the outside feeding tube from the housing because it is completely stuck.

Disappointing

I have only used this grater attachment to grate soft cheeses 3 or four times (e.g. mozzarella, gouda, gruyere, swiss). The large hole grater insert is already quite dull. It was not used for hard cheeses. I'm quite disappointed in the product.

Great for 3 uses and then broke.

Disappointing at best

I am so disappointed with this shredder. I am disabled and it was time to upgrade from my hand shredder. Mistake! Everything I attempt to shred, gets stuck in the outer cylinder of the actual shredding attachment. Then, since it’s stuck, I have to use a butter knife to loosen it so I can pull it out and get the large pieces that prevent the shred from happening. Meh

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s ok. The top chute broke after a couple of uses and I had to superglue it back together. Cheese should definitely be cold because it gums up really fast and I’m left with a slice of cheese that gets stuck around the blade and the side chute but we just save that for the dogs. It just feels like it’s going to fall apart every time I use it.

The top plastic piece fell off super quickly. Super annoying.

disappointing slicing

bought this yesterday to chop vegetables for soup. worked good for carrots, they did stain the plastic. but it did not work good for the celery or the onion. I would have better off sticking to hand chopping.

Nice, BUT...

I have been using this shredder for only 4 months to shred cheeses only. I'd say it's been used a total of 7 times. It was bought new, and has beed a great addition to my KitchenAid collection. Unfortunately the clear tube shaped off making it useless. What a shame KitchenAid. I think this one needs a redesign. I would not recommend this as it is today.

Slicer does not work.

I bought this mainly for the slicer. I've tried to slice bell peppers and citrus fruit and the slicer doesn't slice but turns them to mush. I've tried every every speed and it just doesn't work.
