Not sturdy enough

I received this as a gift in 2021, but have only really used it for the last year or so for shredding cheese. The plastic chute broke off of base while I was using it, so now it is completely unusable.

Makes shredded a breeze

Excellent product until the feeder detached from the body of the shredder. I hand wash as suggested and yesterday while washing it the clear feeder tube fell back into the sink. Wondering if I should super glue it back on - not sure what to do to repair it because otherwise it is just fine. I got this for Christmas 2025 and have only shredded cheese so far.

I have had my KitchenAid mixer for at least 30 years. I use it almost everyday. I have several attachments but I have lost the part that holds the blades for the grinder. I ground chicken before the stores even thought of it. Made cubed steaks before people realized you could bread them like fried chicken and many other uses. I just need to find the cap for my grinder.

Don't waste your $$

Terrible product - no matter what you try to shred - Cheese - butter - apples it plugs up. You have to take it apart, clean it out and start again. Also - clean up is terrible when shredding cheese! The only thing worse is using my grandmothers hand shredder!

Great addition

Works great, saves a lot of time and easy to clean. I would like an option for thicker slices of carrots and cucumbers to use when canning.

Love these attachments! I was worried about how well they would hold up and if they would really work because the way they attached to the stand mixer did not look very sturdy. But everything works great! I don’t use the attachments very often, maybe once every other month, but I’ve been using them for over five years now and they still work great. Horrible

I got this for Christmas and I'm going to try to get a refund. You have to turn the mixer up to max 10 and then push the cheese in so hard it gives you an arm work out. It also flings cheese everywhere because you have to have it running so fast to get it to shred anything. I tried Colby Jack and it was horrible, Parmesan, which cause it's a harder cheese I thought would be better. Still sucked. And then I tried to get it to shred an onion and it was a nightmare. Dont waste your money - short warranty

I agree with another reviewer on here the plastic parts only last a handful of uses before they break. I wish I could get a replacement but am our of warranty by only 2 months. If they replaceed my unit ans had a longer warrantly rhen this would be worth it. Update: The responses you see below are fake. I responded with my product information, issue, and purchase details with no response even after mutiple follow-ups. Don't waste your time because theg wont respond.

Don’t waste your money

Don’t waste your money, any other cheese grater would work better. It takes forever and it flies everywhere. The cheese gets caught in the edges just terrible. Maybe if it was all metal It would work better. I’m surprised with the power behind it, It could be that slow.

Do not waste your money on this. The plastic is glued together and only lasts a handful of uses. I would expect better from Kitchenaid.

Pass on this one buy othe kitchenaide products

Kitchenaide has some great products pass on this one. It should tilt for the product to fall out naturally. In addition the cheese sticks. It doesn't meet kitchenaide standards.

Dissatisfied

I am very disappointed.. I received this for Christmas and everything I sliced is extremely too thin. The only thing I could use it in with soup, my cucumbers and mushrooms. Then I proceeded a great cheese with a different blade and all the cheese got stuck up inside and came out like little curdles not graded and it didn’t even come out. I had to go up and get it with a knife. This is misrepresentation of the product at the best.

Horrible slicer/shredder

The absolute worst product ever. I got this as a gift and tried it and the food, I tried both raw vegetables and cheese. They got stuck in the shredding blade and between the barrel that the blades fit into. I love all 3 of my kitchenAde mixers but this fresh prep slicer is trash!

Please provide an all metal version

I have had my kitchenaid mixer for many years. This attachment was very disappointing. Cheap plastic and nowhere near the quality of the mixer itself. Do not dry to grate hard cheeses and even soft cheeses slowed it way down. Please return to an all metal version of this attachment.

Plastic feed tube fails at joint

This appears to be a rather common problem based on the reviews, but my unit has also failed at the joint between the clear plastic feed tube and the white housing that connects to the mixer. I use my unit to grind carrots for carrot cake or cheese for homemade mac and cheese sauce a few times a year. Has anyone found a food safe glue that can be used to reattach it?

Garbage.

Horrible. Plastic chute breaks every single time I use this. Gorilla glue wont hold anymore. Total waste of money!!! So disappointed

Kitchen Aid First Choice

Kitchen Aid has been my first choice of both large and small appliances for many of my 83 years, and have never been disappointed until I received this slicer/shreder from my sons as a gift. If appears others have had the problem with the plastic top loader cup breaking off, as mine did shortly after receiving it, then the latch lock stopped keeping the grater/slicer in place & would not lock it in, so I had to try and hold it in with a butter knife with one hand while holding the detached top ...

Broke after a few uses

I got this for my birthday in April and after using it a few times, the clear silo part broke off. It works so well and i was so excited to have it since i shred the cheese for my homemade pizzas! I still use it but it’s difficult as i have to keep pressure on it and i feel like it’s starts to take a toll on my mixer as well😏

Glued plastic pieces came apart

Extremely cheaply made product. It broke where the clear plastic and white plastic are GLUED together. I take very good care of my accessories, have always been gentle with it and always hand wash. I didn’t get very much use out of it and honestly the spot that it came apart wouldn’t take that much stress for it to have come apart anyway!
