Very bad product
Would Not RecommendHome came with the smoke and co alarm. The hush functionality doesn’t work. When the battery died I changed the batteries but it still keeps on chirpping. They are fresh new batteries but still keeps on chirping with low battery sound. Looked at their product page and followed exactly what they said and still chirps. I do not recommend it at all. Will be simply replacing all alarms at home wirh different brands alarm.

Not really a 10 year life fire detector...
Bought 6 new Kidde KN-COSM-BA in July 2022 one now dead in July 2025... Units all have MFG date of July 2021 all installed indoors in clean air conditioned low humidity environment. The failed unit constantly alarms and says fire. The alkaline AA batteries in it were exactly 1 year old and indicate full charge under 150mA test load, so really full life remaining. Pay the extra for the Voice Alert
I have the hardwired option. My son like incense and set off the alarm in the middle of the night. I love the clear English "Fire" so that I could quickly figure out the problem at 3AM when my brain was still half asleep.

Would Not RecommendTerrible and degraded product. They chirp constantly even after batteries have been replaced. Then when replaced with whole mew units the new units chirp. They are probably sitting in a warehouse for a year before they even get to a distributor.

Seems to do what it should
Would RecommendSeems to last. Purchased my home six years ago and this alarm was already installed. Manufactured date is 2014 Apr 28, that was ten years and six months ago. Lasted longer than ten years. I have tested only a couple times. Did try blowing out with vacuum but nothing, still double beep every 30 seconds. Was installed in master bedroom above door. Only down side, scared me severely as it double beeped at 3in the morning. Was more jarring than anything, but woke me… that is what we want right?

3.5 Years on a 10-year Lifespan
Very disappointed. I purchased this alarm in January 2021 and like other reviewers here, expected to get a full 10-year life. Today the unit started chirping and flashing red every 30 seconds. I had marked the unit for replacement in January 2031 and instead it last three years and six months. Despite Kidde getting excellent reviews in consumer rating publications, I'll go with another brand now.

Would Not RecommendBought the unit about 3 years ago, tested it every 3 months and everything seemed OK. The batteries got low and it started the "chirping," replaced the batteries and now it will not shut up no matter how many times you push the button or blow it out with air.

I bought my home (a new build) in May 2021 and this detector has already gone bad. I have replaced the batteries twice and now it just keeps beeping say low battery. I can only assume that the whole unit no longer works.

Annoying
Starts alarming soon after i fry something. No visible smoke is present and placed a different brand alarm next to it which did not alarm. Tried to silence the alarm but it just kept going. Hush mode doesn't work either. If i press the button it only does the test and doesn't activate HUSH mode as the guide says.
