What Customers Are Saying
Customers praise these deck screws for strong holding power and clean aesthetics, with low-profile heads that sit flush and match composite materials like Trex. Many report excellent results using quality T20 bits and recommend pre-drilling for optimal performance. The star head design drives smoothly when paired with proper tools. However, some experience persistent countersinking difficulties, with heads remaining exposed or spinning without fully driving. A few note reverse threads can strip holes or damage composite if removed. Despite these drawbacks, most customers find them reliable for professional-looking deck installations.

Would RecommendI had trouble with the screws. The bit that comes with the screws wore out after about 10 screws. I had bought a second pack and that lasted longer. I decided to pre-drill the holes.

Not impressed with fancy screws
Would Not RecommendThese screws with their fancy threads don't always seat flush with the decking. They lose their grip going in and often don't drive flush or below the deck surface. You are left with a screwhead bump above the deck. Even if you reverse your driver to let the secondary thread pull the screw down, it doesn't drive flush with the deck surface. This happens when driving into new wood and not-so-new wood as well. I've seen all the helpful videos, and of course they show screws going right in as they'...
Great for Mutilating Your Deck
Would Not RecommendWow. These screws completely SUCK! I’ve built more decks than I could possibly remember as a landscape pro and can say Grip Rite got this design completely wrong. Whether you predrill or not, they mutilate the composite decking and the wood joists underneath. And don’t even THINK about trying to remove one after it doesn’t seat below the surface. You’ll need a pick to pull the head up while reversing the drill. Absolute garbage fasteners! 🗑️🗑️🗑️
They drive in and then spin.
Would Not RecommendThese things are awful. Even with pre-drill they drive in to where the head meets the decking, and about 1 out of 8 just start spinning with the head still exposed above the board. $50 worth of screws are making a $2000 deck end up being sub par. I searched high and low to find any useful instructions and they basically provide nothing other than your basic how to drive a screw that is useful for a 5 year old. this company usually has good products but avoid these unless you want to ruin your pr...
