Annoying that Nest stopped support for my original Gen 2 Nest, and forced me to buy a new one, but that being said, this new one is actually a lot nicer. Display is more modern and cleaner. Was super easy to set up a schedule and geo fencing through the Google app. and the seasonal displays are really nice in the hallway.

Unreliable
Would Not RecommendRidiculous that I’ve had to replace both upstairs and downstairs gen 2 thermostats within a few months of each other. A thermostat that costs over $200 should last longer than 4 years. I spent $279 x 2 again because I had bought the entire system for my house.

Would RecommendI'll be honest, this was an impulse buy. Already had the basic Nest but this was on sale and I liked having a second sensor. If you own a nest, you know it's pretty easy to set up and use. Having a second sensor is great because it will use the two temperatures and bring the temp to the mid of the two readings. So even if you set it to 75, you might actually get 74. That's why I set it 1 degree higher than what I really want. I also enjoy that it's a turn dial and not something I have to touch t...

Product is great. Google = Irritating.
I have always liked Nest. Irritated I had to pay full price to replace a functional second generation nest stat. Google possibly sent me an email and you had to have that email and it cannot be resent etc etc to get a discount on a replacement to maintain smart aspects of why one buys this stat in the first place. Forced obsolescence. My other Gen 3 is supposedly OK for now.
