Push button door opener breaks

This is the second f this model he microwave I have owned. Both times the door release button has stopped working. The first time I owned it the push button to open stopped working within the one year warranty period and it was repaired free of charge under warranty. The current one I own malfunctioned shortly after the warranty expired so he will not repair it free of charge. I am never buying another GE product.

3 year life is all

We’re disappointed, this microwave lasted only 3 Years! To make matters worse, we bought a trim kit for it. The turntable started making noises when we used it for a year or so. The website suggested this was not a problem. A couple of months ago, the table Continued turning when the door was open. Then it stopped all together. We are obviously quite disappointed.

Bad News Micro

Junk. Nominal daily usage over 3 years and first it started to malfunction, dish continued to turn after ending cook time. Now open door button broke (common- see YouTube). By the way light bulb replacement requires complete removal and opening appliance.

Temporary appliance

Lasted 19 months. Very disappointed. Hope the one we bought to replace it lasts longer.

Broken

Microwave worked well for 2 years until we were trying to pop some popcorn . Sparks started coming out of where the fan is and then smoke. Turned it off, removed it and buying a new one. Less costly than repair

Not worth the money

This product only lasted 1 1/2 years new. Used as directed. Product is believed to be purchased by builder in bulk and discontinued by manufacturers because of possible defects.

Not a good investment…

This thing just died on 3/10/26. I guess that’s the life expectancy??

Fire hazard

I would not recommend this microwave. After only 5 years, the inside top has developed four large bubbles where the paint is peeling and rusting. It still functions, but the paint is now flaking off and falling into our food. This feels like a serious safety and quality issue.

No reliability

Only had unit for about 2.5 years and it completing broken, repairs cost more than a new one.

Garbage

Don’t waste your money, this microwave only lasted 3 1/2 years before the magnetron went bad. The cost to fix it is just as much as a new microwave and the company does absolutely nothing about it.

Poor quality.

About three years old and stopped working. Arcing problems indicate quality issues.

Not a quality product

I've had 2 of these microwaves in the past 10 years both of them within 5 years had the same exact issue. The turntable continues to rotate even after it's shut off. Sometimes when you turn it on the turntable, rotates, but doesn't microwave. You have to keep opening and closing the door just to get it to stop and hope that the next time It works properly.

Not so good

Not a very good microwave. The button to open the door does not work all the time. It’s poorly constructed. Now only after 2 years of use, it no longer heats anything. Constantly frustrated by the door and it does not last very long. Just a poor product.

Average

It gave good service for 4 years. No other problem noticed except after 4 years, the heating is not occurring.

Internal coating coming off

Installed this microwave in November, 2023. The coating at the top of the microwave is starting to bubble and peel. There are no sparks (yet), and there has never been a situation where metal was put in the microwave or it was used inappropriately. Definitely a material quaiity issue. GE's recommendation when this happens is to replace it, as there is no way to repair it. Should be able to get more than 2 years out of a microwave.

Bad Megnetron

I bought this microwave and trim piece to fit my countertop insert in Nov ‘22. Looks great and was working fine until Dec ‘25 when the magnetron stopped working. Right now the part alone is more than half the cost of the microwave and with service fee, well I was just advised to purchase another microwave after only 3 years of mild-mod usage. Just disappointed as my last GE microwave lasted 25 years.

worst you can think of

worst I have ever used. I have this in my 2 homes and both hones having issue every few months. ow one of the home its stop functioning and I have to to rplace it

Maybe it's the company

This model was given to us by the builder when we purchased a new construction home. This microwave lasted 5 years but the worse part is we hardly use our microwave. The microwave turntable started spinning when you open the door and then stops when you close the door. The microwave continued to work even though it was spinning but after a couple of months the turn table no longer spins when in use. GE PROFILE Microwave Lasted Less Than 3 yrs

So angry to have spent $700 for a GE Profile microwave and trim kit and it lasted less than 3 years. Needed during Christmas dinner prep and it wouldn't start. Now seeing so many reviews of the same. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Fire hazard

Builder supplied microwave. The MW was built in Sept 2020 and installed in our home in March 2021. Worked fine until today, when flames started shooting from the right side panel. A measuring cup with chocolate was being heated. No metal. Thankfully my wife was right there looking at it when it happened. S/N PEB7227AN33DD.
