Would RecommendDon't buy. Save yourself a bad experience! POOR design, wouldn't work, grips fall off, didn't support well against the window. The screw in kind are better.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, IT DOES NOT WORK
Would Not RecommendFirst I bought one in store and someone had taken out parts. I returned that and decided to order online. I received it quick and all parts were in the box, but it still does not stay together. They give flimsy looking tabs when a screw should be used. Other parts do not stay in place and there is no real way to secure them. The things that are put on to protect your window and outside won't stay on either. And the directions are not very clear either. JUST DO NOT BUY!! I have decided that my AC...

I hate it.
Would Not RecommendDont waste your money. I got this thing durring a heat wave and our landlord wouldn't let us drill holes in our old aluminum window frame when we got window unit AC. We couldn't afford a portable AC and the cost of this bar and a window unit was still cheaper anyways. From the get go, the instructions dont make sense. It took a minute to assemble and install. Once it was in, it was not sturdy or secure at all. I went ahead and drilled a screw into the exterior of the house just to keep the lef f...
Stay away
Would Not RecommendVery poor quality, avoid this product. I bought it because there were no other options and we had a heatwave. Will return it.
Definitely extends to 36"
Would RecommendAs others have said instructions a little annoying, but perfectly comprehensible if you've worked with a bracket before. It absolutely does go out to 36" and maybe a little beyond, but the labeling on the arms that extend is incorrect, likely leading to a lot of the frustration. The rubber pads slip off at a drop of the hat which is why the 1 star reduction. I don't mind because I'm in a brick building, but if I had siding or stucco I would have to figure out a replacement for the one that dropp...

Nice alternative to a screw in support.
Would RecommendI had my windows replaced last Winter and was not going to screw into them to put in a new AC support. This was easy to use, but with the configuration of my windows I had to reverse it, i.e. the part that should have gone outside had to go inside I could not have done the project along though as it took one person to steady the unit and the other to adjust the position of the support.

Did not fit any window Not worth $$
Would Not RecommendDidn’t fit any window in either home and too expensive for what it is

Not, entirely, "universal"
Would RecommendThe support brackets worked in two of the three windows for which they were intended. In the one window that did not work out, it was less the fault of the design and more the fault of our window frame. The interior bracing of the support needs to rest on an, interior, window sill. On the window that failed, the interior sill is flush with the window frame. Due to this, the main crossmember had nothing to seat on and was unstable. Ultimately, we used the support bracket in another window that wa...
