Would RecommendI replaced all five detectors in the house. They're all interconnected and all were non-functional. I expected difficulty with the base or electrical connector. They are designed to fit any older base's screw pattern. I disconnected the power cable connector, then loosened the screws on the old bases just enough to remove the old bases, then put the new bases on the screws, tightened them snug, plugged in the new smoke detectors, and screwed them onto the base. No wiring as the connectors matche...

Easy Install. Same size as the old one
Would RecommendThe install was easy. The base plate was the same size as the old FireX alarms I was replacing, so I didn't have to worry that the old celling paint would show through. They work. The only slight downside is that they have a fairly bright green LED in them. The one in my bedroom is much more noticeable in the dark than the old red LED, but it's not so bright that it keeps you awake. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.
