Would RecommendI decided to not go with the hard wired detectors due to problems with all the wired detectors that kept going off when one went bad at 2am. I love the sleek look of these battery operated detectors, and I can put them anywhere on the ceiling. For some reason, when the builder installed the old hard wired detectors, they put them in the middle of the ceiling next to a focal point in the room. They stuck out like a black eye. Now I have a thin detector in a corner near the door
