Confusing part to buy. Better than aftermarket.

This original part seems to work better than the off brands you get on the internet. One strange thing is ones that say for use before 2006 and others that say for use after 2006 have the exact same part number and the exact same barcode on them. My guess is the only difference is the flow of water. I believe the one before 2006 puts out more water per minute.

Buy the genuine delta brand, not the cheaper ones

I learned this the hard way. Bought cheaper cartridges over the internet, not genuine delta brand but identified as being RP19804 cartridges. One did not fit, one fit but dripped more than the original that I was replacing. Sucked it up and bought the expensive Delta cartridge.. Fit right in, did not drip, works just fine now, Don't over tighten that bonnet nut and all will be well. In DIY plumbing, you get what you pay for..

Fixed drip easily

Had to adjust hot/cold water ratio after installation, which is easy but was different than that on old valve. Always buy OEM parts, save yourself some drama

Had to replace the 22 year old cartridge in our shower. Perfect fit/match for the old delta cart. Took about an hour to install and clean up.

Thank you for the tip. I called Delta Custom Service (@1-800345-3358) on Delta Monitor Shower Faucet (1400 series) issues. They send the cartridge R19804 and Bonnet Nut RP22734 after I test them photo as proof. It was simple and easy. I recommend to use the Life Time Warranty on all parts of Delta Faucet first before buying any parts out of pockets. (8-10 days delivery).

Make sure to dial in the cartridge

The installation is somewhat easy. The one thing you need to do is dial in the position how far the handle goes. It will take a moment but once you get that done the cartridge will work great.

Delta is second-rate.

RP19804 is genuine trash. I have replaced the same shower valve WITH ORIGINAL DELTA replacement six times in 18 years! Extremely disappointed I have to do this again due to serious dripping. Unacceptable.

CHECK OPENED PACKAGES BEFORE YOU BUY

WHEN I PURCHASED THE REPAIR KIT THE PACKAGE WAS OPENED. AFTER INSTALLING THE PART. I FOUND OUT SOMEONE OPENED THE PACKAGE , TOOK OUT THE NEW PART AND INSTALLED THE OLD PART IN THE PACKAGE. IT WAS A BUMMER FOR ME.
