This tool is garbage, I tried with three different hammers, hit the snot out of it, and tried a couple of different packs of charges. It will fire about 1 in 10 times on average and after getting about 10 fasteners in, the pin holding the striker broke. I'm returning it, but it belongs in the dump.

Aggravating time waster. Misfire master tool

So I thought I was going to go with a quick way of doing this without beating up my drill, instead I beat the hell out of this thing and it didn’t work even once. I’m one to not give up either but boy do I wish I had. I could have built an entire house with the amount of time wasted on this

Wouldn’t Fire — Complete Waste of Time

The DEWALT name carries expectations of quality. This tool didn’t meet them. It would not fire reliably despite repeated hammer strikes and trying different hammer weights. Returned it and bought the Ramset equivalent — same design, but it works properly. Save yourself the frustration.

Regret

I bought this a year ago, but ended up not using it and stored the tool, caps and nails in a cabinet. I tried using it this weekend but only 1 of 20 cartridges fired. I thought maybe it was due to the .22 caps being a year old, so I bought a new box. Tried about 15 out of that box before I gave up. I tried to return it to Lowes, but they said no thank you (wasn't surprised, it was bought a year ago). I left it with them to put in the trash.

Read the reviews, then get something else

I had the same issue as the other reviewers: it simply Will Not Fire. I was able to get two fasteners sunk today, just going through a 2x4 into poured concrete using this tool, a 22oz framing hammer, the Tapcon level 4 cartridges, and DW fasteners. I gave up after trying everything and will be taking all these things back to Lowes. This works great

I believe all the low stars are user error issues. Look at the YouTube video P1000 Dewalt for clear instructions. Worked great to nail down 2x4 into concrete.

Better than reviews suggested

The PG version is DISREGARD what these negative reviews suggest. If you want this to work correctly, you have to hit the striker pin a LOT harder than you might think. Its not fragile (vertically). Make sure the base is pushed in the 1/4" or so & just beat the $hit out of it when you take your swing, & mine fired every time. I used a 2# ball peen hammer & swung like I was driving 4" framing nails into hardwood. For the average person, this is great & considerably cheaper than the other options.

Functional, Easy to Use

I purchased this before reading all the bad reviews, but decided to give it a try anyway. No experience using powder actuated fastening tools. To me, this worked very well. I'm finishing a basement, and this tool did what it was advertised to. I noticed that I had to hit it 2 times every time I used it. One to fully seat the nail, the next to actually use the charge. Added about 2 seconds per nail. Overall, worth while.

Do not listen to low star reviewers

It works exactly as intended. the people leaving low star reviews are improperly using this tool. most of them probably aren't pushing the tool down all the way while striking the firing pin. The tool works great!

Do not buy it!

I have supported DeWalt tools and still do but this is garbage. I have bought three of these and like all other of the reviews after a few uses it stops working. It takes many hits from a hammer to get it to fire if it fires at all. Maybe one out of 7 or 8 rounds one will fire and drive in a nail. DeWalt should really look into the design of this and correct it seeing everyone that gets this has major issues with it. I have since moved onto a different brand that has no issues.

Absolute Garbage

Like so many others, I bought this without reading the reviews. Lesson learned. Always read the reviews. This tool is absolute garbage, and will be the last Dewalt item I purchase. Usually, they're a good brand, but for a company to sell this thing? Sorry, you don't get any more of my money.

You will regret this purchase.

Just spend the extra $60 and get the trigger tool. This thing fires 1 out of every 30 or 40 hammer hits, it's very unreliable.

Defective. Never worked.

I bought this half year ago and this month I begin my basement project and found it never worked. I even searched YouTube and try to find a solution but still failed every attempt. Not sure if I can still return this.

Bad product!

I read the reviews before I put the order but I thought might DeWalt had done something for the quality of its product... Well NO, they did not. Never worked. Completely useless.
