Would RecommendI bought the SDS hammer drill to use a chisel attachment to remove an overlay of concrete on our concrete slab. A contractor wanted $3,500 to do the job and I'm doing it slowly over time with my new tool.

DeWalt Motor is Junk
Would Not RecommendUsed once, drilling two holes in concrete, then when drilling in mortar, stopped working --- the motor was dead. Nothing seemed amiss, it didn't smoke nor was there the foul smell from a dead electric motor. The motor simply stopped working. DeWalt's customer service was an endless runaround, and so I must return this and choose a different brand, either Bosch or Rigid. I will never again purchase DeWalt, as every tool from them has failed.
Owned a Dewalt Sds drill for 10 years. The bit would never come out when trying to back it out. Had to work the drill to spin it out freely. I bought this Dewalt drill, same problem on it's first hole. I put it back in the case and returned it immediately for credit. Milwaukee sds hammer broke within a month. Get a makita, 3 months and counting, fingers crossed.
Great tool
Would RecommendWas originally trying to buy a smaller version but the store was out of stock so I went with this one. I bought several new bits, as this does not take standard drill bits. I also bought a chisel bit as this has a hammer only option. Great tool for hammer drilling and concrete chipping. I do have a concern though as there is grease seeping from the selection knob and showing up on the bits.

Great Purchase and Price!
Would RecommendI was able to drill through brick within seconds. My regular drill took way too long and still wouldn't go all the way through! I also caught it on sale!
(12) 1" holes 12" deep - No Problem!
Would RecommendI needed to install asphalt anchors that require drilling a 1" wide hole that is 12" deep. I had a dozen (12) holes to drill. Yesterday I had tried 2 different drills and I did not get 1 hole completed after an hour. Today in less than 4 minutes I had 4 holes drilled and all 12 holes were done in 15 minutes - all with the same drill bit. The aggregate in this asphalt runs 10" deep and the rock in it is very hard, but this DEWALT SDS 8.5 AMP Hammer exceeded my expectations. I am definitely keepin...
Very rotary, much hammer
Would RecommendI got tired of trying to drill holes in masonry for anchors with a regular drill, so I bought this bad boy and now I can’t stop drilling holes in my house. Anchors in cinderblock in the garage, holes through the brick exterior for outdoor electrical outlets, chipping tile up, anchors in a concrete slab, and anchors for a deck ledger board. Big holes, small holes, whole holes. Easy to use, great power. Warning, your home will look like Swiss cheese if you buy this.

Excellent product and easy to use
Would RecommendI bought one of these last year as we needed to drill through a 2 foot concrete wall and it did the job effortlessly and without wearing us out. I used it a few months ago with a hammer bit to remove ceramic tile from a concrete floor and it did the job quickly. If you need a hammer drill go with DeWALT.

used 3 times
Would Not RecommendBought this to remove ceramic tile in two of my bedrooms, less than 160 square foot each. Did fine in one bedroom, in the the other oil started dripping out of it, then it started smoking and seized. Did not push it that hard or use it continously. Took back to Lowes and swapped for the Bosch model. Had no problems at all with it. Stay away from this one.

Bosch bulldog vs Dewalt SDS
Would RecommendI bought this to sink 6" anchors into a slab with heavy aggregate, took 15.4 sec to drill a 6 and a half inch hole 3/8 of an inch wide with the Dewalt SDS. The Bosch bulldog took 27.4 sec for the same sizehole, I also noticed the bosch seemed to bog down twords the bottom of the hole, where the dewalt didn't hesitate. Its also worth noting the Bosch is much heavier and feels sturdier but the forward and reverse switch is incredibly cheap plastic. dewalt feels lighter but does the job in almost h...
