Customers overwhelmingly praise this work light for its exceptional brightness and wide-area illumination that floods entire rooms and workspaces. Reviewers consistently commend the rugged construction, with many reporting the light remains fully functional after multiple drops and years of heavy use. The adjustable head, hanging hook, and compatibility with existing batteries are frequently cited as major advantages for hands-free positioning in tight spaces. Most customers call it the best work light they've ever owned, ideal for workshops, automotive repairs, attics, and emergencies. Really great light
Would RecommendI've had all brands of lights but I really like this light. I had to repair an air conditioner that was in the attic. This Dewalt 20 V light really lit the area. In the past I've used the spot light type lights which worked okay but this 500 Lumen LED lit the entire work area. It's now my favorite hand held light.

Great little light
Would RecommendI hate cords and bought this to replace the 14v fluorescent light that I had and used regularly, but the NiCad batteries died and it won’t accept the 14v Li Ion battery I have. Best move I made. It is the “right” size and the dual intensity mode is a bonus. Light life, even on the 2 AmpHr battery, is acceptable on bright and more than acceptable on low light mode. Even on the low mode the light output is usable. I use this on house projects and repairs. So, it may sit around for a while and...

This light I keep close.
Would RecommendWith a lightweight design, I take it everywhere I go. Also, as I'm getting older my eyes are having trouble adjusting to dark and dim lit places. I use this light everywhere, e v e r y where. I've not not been able to light up an area where I needed to complete any task. Found to be durable after dropping it once or twice from improper handling, I believe this to be the last worklight I ever buy.

Best Light Ever
Would RecommendOk men...get rid of those worthless drop lights and especially the lame fluorescent lights. No more fighting with a cord. This light by far is the best for all the mechanical trades...it’s very bright, the battery lasts for hours...it’s awesome for working under a sink base cabinet, working in a electrical panel, you name it. The only thing I don’t like about it is that when you hang it by the hook, it only shines on a horizontal plane. Too bad it can’t “shine down” on the vertical plane. Other ...
Great all around light
Would RecommendI just started using this but am very happy with it so far. My old light is the DW919 and there is no comparison between the two. I saw one person complain about their 5.0ah batteries not fitting well but my DCB205 batteries slide on and off with ease. Maybe it was an early production model they had? I use it for lighting up small areas for electrical work and for working underneath vehicles. It won't be the same as a well lit room or being outside in the daylight but I can see just fine with it...

Works but has issues
Would Not RecommendI have the DCL040 and love it si I wanted to love the DCL050 but it comes with issues. The light is OK but needs a wider field of light. The pivoting head is so long and heavy that the pivot continually falls to the 90 degree position so a stronger detent would be a nice update. The light I received has an issue with the battery clip on certain batteries. The 6 ah batteries slide on and off with ease but my 5 ah batteries are very hard to get on and off as if the light has a mold error for the b...

Good for on the go.
Would RecommendWith the batteries, it has a good stable base. Could use more diodes to broaden the field of lighting. Like the fact that I can inter change batteries with my other tools.

Best light ever.
Would RecommendUsed with a 5.0ah battery and lasted over 8 hours before it started to blink letting me know battery was low. Provides a ton of light allowing me to finish my roof long after sunset.

worth the investment.......
Would Recommend.....for what you pay. I work with habitat for humanity where i live - they have 3 of the dcl-040 and one of the dcl-050. All the lights work great for there intended use - the model 40 is more of a spotlight as the model 50 is more of a floodlight for general tasks. We use the model 50 in closets and smaller rooms when installing trimwork for doors. The light adjustment is good when you don’t have a second person to hold the light for you. The light will flash at you before the battery is ...
Dewalt 20V work light
Would RecommendBest battery powered light I ever had. I let it on for 8 1/2 hours before battery went dead.
Outstanding Light
Would RecommendI have worked in industrial maintenance/engineering for 30+ years, so frankly it takes a lot to impress me. This light has tuned out to be so much of a must-have, that other guys who have borrowed mine are getting one for themselves. The light has about a 170 degree horizontal output with a slightly more concentrated area about 90-100 degrees. Vertical projection is about the same. (Note: Don't be mislead by the light only having 3 LEDs; there's been some optical engineering and quality...
Nice bright light
Would RecommendThe light does last several hours on the high setting and was often bright enough on the lower setting to light up my work area under the house. My only complaint is the flex point isn't tight enough, if we were using it in the full upright position and bumped it it would pivot one way or the other. I often just laid it aimed at the work rather than worry about bumping it and losing my light. Have not looked to see if there is a fix for this.

Game-Changing alternative to 110V Work Lights
Would RecommendThis light is boss. Let me be perfectly clear, this light is a more than adequate substitute for plug-in, 110V work lights. For years, I used a fluorescent work light for working on the car, in the attic, and all those other dimly lit jobs. The DCL050 has an astonishing amount of light output which is evenly spread with no hot spots. Absolutely equal in light output to my 18" fluorescent work light that has been my mainstay for 20 years. This light is absolutely perfect for working on the car. ...
