I bought this mostly to serve as a polishing wheel for various sheet metals I use for finishing projects. Removing the grinder and replacing with a polishing/buffing wheel was surprisingly simple. Variable Speed Grinder

A very nice grinder with variable speed which is a big plus for me. The only thing that was a bit of a problem was the directions for installing the face shields and upper guards. Other than that I am extremely happy to have purchased it.

The build quality and smoothness was not quite what I was expecting from Delta. The variable speed makes quite a bit of noise, and after 20-30 minutes running off and on sharpening drill bits the motor was hot enough I couldn’t lay my hand on it. Maybe that is too long duty cycle?? The instructions for assembling the tool rest and shields were very small and hard to figure out. I’m going to keep it as it will serve it’s purpose for me, I just thought Delta was a few steps better than entry-level...

Disappointed...returned

When I unpacked, I found that the included directions were so small, they could barely be read. The illustrations were unusable so I relied on the pics on the box which were thankfully helpful. The guard on the left side (fine wheel) was bent and off center. That caused the attached tool rest to also be uneven and out of alignment with the wheel. The fine wheel was also dinged up a bit. Good Grinder - Quality Control Needs Improvement

I like this grinder... but they are not made consistently. The first one I ordered had a loud howling noise at all RPM's. I could not stand it and returned it. My second one had the same tinny noise, but a little less louder. But the speed control (potentiometer) was useless and did not not control the speed very well. I returned that one. My third one almost made it... except that when spinning down from OFF, I could hear a clicking sound in the gears that got worse with time. I returne...
